This first interview is with the wonderful Zeyda BroersErol from 🤩 In business for almost 4 years right now Zeyda and I talk about how she overcame different obstacles in life, how she has grown, and her current lifestyle and business! ​
​
As a productivity coach, her mission is to empower entrepreneurs to become the boss of their TEA: time, energy, and attention—the three pillars of personal productivity. By strengthening this foundation, entrepreneurs can easily tap into the best of their potential and achieve great results without overworking or experiencing overwhelm, while also enjoying a fulfilling personal life.

After a high-achieving career in the fashion industry, while recovering from her severe burnout, she was sitting at home with an ocean of time in her hands but no energy or ability to focus. Zeyda realized that to live a “good life,” she needed to rebuild all three pillars and sustain their quality in the long term.

It amazes her that the school system teaches us nothing about managing ourselves, starting with how to better manage our time, energy, and attention.
​
Step by step, finding her way out of burnout, divorce, being a single parent, and then starting her coaching business, she built a new and fulfilling life from the ashes of the previous one.
​
These three pillars have been the strong foundations of everything she has manifested.
​
Now she teaches and coaches other entrepreneurs about what she wishes she knew long ago: the TEA framework for sustainable success. ​

When I was younger I didn’t see this as a good thing, but now it’s become a part of myself that I love and fully embrace.

⛵️ Some of you may not know this, but I grew up on a boat and for many years of my life I was homeschooled.

My mom was my first teacher and when I learned how to read I discovered how amazing books were! They were full of secrets, fantastic imaginary worlds, and an escape from the world around me.

𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗜 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗮 𝗸𝗶𝗱 𝗯𝗼𝗼𝗸𝘀 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗺𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮 𝘄𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝘄𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝗮 𝗹𝗼𝘁.

Reading wasn’t always fun though. In high-school and college and during graduate school I struggled because I “had to” read things and didn’t always see the value in the things I was learning. It took forever (I didn’t like or want to speed read) and sometimes was super boring.

For quite some years I stopped reading almost completely. But then I reminded myself…

📖 I love it

📖 It stimulates my brain

📖 It contributes to my growth

📖 My friends, family and clients benefit from it

𝗜 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮 𝗳𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗜 𝘄𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱𝗻’𝘁 𝗯𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗜 𝗮𝗺 𝘁𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗶𝗻𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴.

💜 And so even with traveling, running a business, raising three kids and nurturing relationships with my husband and friends I make sure to continue learning and reading on a daily basis!

I used to pride myself on the ability to do everything alone. My momma after all raised a strong, capable, independent woman! And I felt that if I asked for help from others it would mean I don't know what I'm doing, was weak, or incapable.
​
Looking back now this seems more than a bit silly but it was really what I believed! And it's still what many other moms are doing on a daily basis not only in their daily lives, but in their coaching businesses too!
​
👉 Doing everything by alone. Because that seems at first what running your own business is all about - you doing it on your own! Going it alone, however, can be utterly exhausting, and definitely not yield the best results!
​

In October 2021 we left 🇳🇱 The Netherlands, destination 🇲🇽 Mexico…telling people we would be gone for a year.
​
🔥 Well guess what? That was a year ago already.

📣 And we have no intention of “going back” any time soon! In fact, we just signed a 6 month contract on our new condo here in 🇨🇷 Costa Rica 😇

🤷‍♀️ Was the decision to stay a hard one to make? No!!! But does that mean that this last year has been “easy”? NOT AT ALL!

🤯 We were at home with COVID for almost an entire month
🤯 Our finances were pretty close to rock bottom
🤯 There have been many moments where things have gone totally differently than expected
🤯 We’ve experienced shifting and changing both in our businesses and relationship

And you know what? It’s all part of the process! Each less than awesome experience has not only brought it’s own lessons but also much appreciation of the great things we’ve experienced like...

❤️ Meeting amazing people, integrating and feeling part of a community
❤️ Waking up every day being grateful for our choices and where we live
❤️ Doing many things that we’ve never done before
❤️ Seeing the kids flourish and learn a third language

🤦‍♀️ Some of you reading this may be thinking, yes, of course…duuuuh! But why is it then that so many posts I see are all about the coach and their way of doing things, their services, their accomplishments?!

It’s a mistake in perspective and thinking because if you're focusing on yourself and the business it means…
​
👎 you're not fully tuned in to your clients (and this comes across in messaging)
👎 you're out of sync with what potential clients really need
👎 the focus is on profit instead of people
👎 you lose them with overly complicated systems and processes
​
𝗗𝗼𝗻’𝘁 𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝗺𝗲 𝘄𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴, 𝗶𝘁’𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘁’𝘀 𝘄𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗸 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳.

👉 Just make sure there is a relevant lesson or benefit in there for your clients!

🙋‍♀️ Because what you should be doing…whether it’s a social media post, talking to clients or even the structure of an onboarding process is always thinking about it from the clients perspective!

When you consistently take on your potential client’s perspectives it means
🏅 the focus is on fully serving your clients
🏅 you will be more in sync with their needs
🏅 you'll ​ attract more ideal clients
🏅 systems and processes will be easier and more accessible
​
🛑 So next time you’re getting ready to create new content, a process or talking to clients take a moment to put yourself in your potential clients shoes and ask yourself whether it makes sense from their perspective!

A couple weeks ago I ended up in a pretty scary situation. The lessons are also applicable to business!
​
We were driving to a sound ceremony which Google said was 40 minutes away. But in ​ 🇨🇷 Costa Rica 🇨🇷 , let me tell you, navigation estimates are usually off. 𝘗𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘭𝘦𝘴, 𝘳𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘴, 𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘰𝘮 𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘥𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘤𝘢𝘵𝘵𝘭𝘦 𝘰𝘳 𝘭𝘰𝘰𝘴𝘦 𝘩𝘰𝘳𝘴𝘦𝘴 𝘢𝘳𝘦𝘯’𝘵 𝘵𝘢𝘬𝘦𝘯 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘰 𝘢𝘤𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘵!

🚙 About 20 minutes into the drive the road started to go downhill.
​
⚠️ At first it was just a bit bumpy. Then we hit the first river, and a second. Then the road became less road and more like 𝘤𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘥𝘪𝘵𝘤𝘩𝘦𝘴.
​
😨30 minutes on this road and my adrenaline was racing...I was tense, freaked out and doubting whether we were going to make it.
​
Scary scenarios flashed through my head
​
💥 the car falling into a ravine
💥 the car tipping over on its side
💥 us breaking down or getting stuck and having to walk in the dark
​
💪 It took every inch of focus, determination & trust in myself to keep putting my foot on the accelerator and keep going.
​
🔥 I reminded myself that I wasn’t alone, I’d made it this far already, and realized that even though I didn’t know if we would make it…going back was not an option!
​
💃 In case you’re wondering, in the end…we did make it! And the sound ceremony was absolutely worth the journey.
​
🤷‍♀️ Why I share this is because so many women in business I see allow themselves to get paralyzed by fear in the business process. 𝘍𝘦𝘢𝘳 𝘰𝘧 𝘧𝘢𝘪𝘭𝘶𝘳𝘦, 𝘧𝘦𝘢𝘳 𝘰𝘧 𝘴𝘶𝘤𝘤𝘦𝘴𝘴, 𝘧𝘦𝘢𝘳 𝘰𝘧 𝘫𝘶𝘥𝘨𝘦𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵, 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘣𝘦𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘨𝘰𝘰𝘥 𝘦𝘯𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩, 𝘵𝘢𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘳𝘪𝘴𝘬𝘴...I could go on.
​
When you let fear stop you…you're not going to get anywhere worth going because
​
𝗙𝗘𝗔𝗥 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗮𝗹𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗯𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲, 𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗮𝗻𝘆𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗵 𝗴𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴.

👉 So never give up, never surrender, and always keep on moving!

🤮 𝗗𝗼𝗻'𝘁 𝗯𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝗰𝗸𝘆 𝘀𝗮𝗹𝗲𝘀 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻! 🤮

🙋‍♀️ Hand up if you’ve ever had an icky, pushy sales experience! I know I’ve had my fair share of encounters with door to door salesmen, street vendors and people just even randomly asking for money.
​
👉 Now of course you don't want to be that kind of person…right?! And yet at some point in business many of the coaching moms I know hit a point where money is tight. The buffer is gone, reserves invested or they simply aren’t making the amount of income they thought they would have created by now.
​
And so ​ 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝘆𝗽𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗴𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗹𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝗮 𝗺𝗮𝘀𝗰𝘂𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗸𝗶𝗰𝗸 𝘂𝗽 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝘂𝘁𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗽𝘂𝘀𝗵 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱, 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲! But what happens when you come from this place of needing to make the sale is that
​
👎 the energy you bring actually repels your ideal clients
👎 you are operating from a scarcity mindset
👎 what matters (helping and service) becomes buried
​
🛑 Of course that’s not what you got into business to do…push people away, chase money from scarcity and lose sight of what’s really important. But it happens to the best of us!
​
💡 Luckily, like most things in life, awareness does wonders to start changing our behavior.
​
🖼 So here’s the tip…the golden reframe if you will: what you need to be doing is always going into sales calls (or conversations) from a place of curiosity and service.
​
Because when you come to potential clients with this energy
​
💃 they will feel like you actually give a crap
💃 you will be better tuned in and serve them better
💃 you are coming from a place of abundance and care
​
So next time you are about to get on a call with a potential client and notice feeling the pressure or urge to “close the deal” or “make money” 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗲.
