We congratulate Bergen and Oslo on the top 10 position in the GDS index 2022 🤩🌱

The Global Destination Sustainability index is an annual measurement of how global travel destinations work with sustainability. The index looks at, among other things, how the travel destinations work with destination development and how the tourism businesses in each destination work with sustainability, climate and environmental measures and social sustainability.
Innovation Norway Reiseliv has been involved since the establishment of the Global Destination Sustainability Movement twelve years ago and was present at the launch of this year's GDS index.

It is gratifying to see that Visit Bergen Bransjenytt and Bransjenytt Visit Oslo climbed many places this year, with Bergen in a strong 2nd place👏👏 👏

In fact, 37 million meals are served worldwide every day using Norwegian seafood. Norwegian delegates gathered for the ICCA Congress The ICCA Congress is perhaps the world's most important meeting place for the meeting industry. This year, the Norwegian participants had to exchange a plane ticket to somewhere in the world with Oslofjord in Sandefjord. Which turned out to be a very good congress experience.

Did you know Hurtigruten Svalbard have electric snowmobiles that run on 100% green energy?🌿 This sustainable solution uses wind power during winter, and solar cell panels with 24 hrs of constant midnight sun during summer🌅 The windmill that powers them during winter has just been mounted. This will be taken down when the sun is back, in order to protect the birds, and the solar cell panels will then be used again. Excellent initiative, not to mention an amazing experience for incentives or conference delegates who are looking for something out of the ordinary 🤩

Zalaris Norseman Xtreme Triathlon had to be cancelled due to Covid-19 this year, so instead they got current Olympic Distance Triathlon World champion (2019 ITU Grand Final, Lausanne) and current IRONMAN 70.3 World Record holder (2019 Ironman 70.3, Bahrain, 3:25:21). Kristian Blummenfelt as a coach in the first ever Norseman TRI Camp in beautiful Eidfjord 🤩 There is a second camp planned for August, for everyone interested! 🏊‍♂️🚴‍♀️🏃‍♂️

The Covid-19 situation in Norway is slowly progressing, and on Monday the government allowed meetings and events for up to 200 participants. Events with more than 500 participants are still banned until 1st of September.
We are happy to see that we are moving in the right direction, slowly but steadily ☺️

Norway is slowly opening up again from the lock-down following the COVID-19 pandemic as of 14th of March. There are new guidelines on the number of people in groups and meetings, and events with a responsible organiser up to 50 people are now allowed. If all goes according to plan, events with 200 people will be permitted from 15th of June.
