To highlight Women’s Day we sat down with one of our female leaders within Comfort Hotel, Solveig Voldheim, Senior Vice President and asked her 3 quick questions about her career journey as well as the work Comfort Hotel does to promote women in the workplace👇

❓How did you start your journey at Comfort Hotel and how has it evolved?
❗️I started with the best job ever! As Barception Manager at Comfort Hotel Xpress Youngstorget. I started four months before the hotel opened in January 2011, so I was able to recruit my own team and influence some operative decisions which was really inspiring to me. Later that year I got the opportunity to advance to General Manager at the same hotel, and I was also trusted with the opening of a second Comfort Xpress in Oslo: Comfort Hotel Xpress Central Station in 2014. After some years as a General Manager I took on the role as Director of Operation for Comfort Hotel in Norway, and as of April last year I have held the role as Senior Vice President for Comfort Hotel in the Nordic.

I have been truly lucky to have learned early in my career that working with inspiring and dynamic people helps me grow - both personally and professionally. And I really have had the pleasure of working with some extremely talented and interesting people in this company.

❓How does Comfort Hotel promote gender equality in its workforce and guest experience?
❗️I think this is a very important question, which we all need to ask ourselves every now and then. Being fortunate enough to have grown up both geographically and in a company culture where gender equality is such an important part of our DNA, it is sometimes difficult to put into words what we actually do.

Having said that; I believe THE most important thing we can do is to help women to get involved by supporting and elevating talent. In Comfort Hotel we aim to always attract, retain and engage our people to reflect the diverse communities we operate in. Meaning both guests and staff should feel represented and included.

❓What plans does Comfort Hotel have to advance women's leadership roles in hospitality?
❗️As with this year's theme for International Women's Day we aim to Inspire Inclusion.
Inspiring our colleagues and guests to understand and value women’s inclusion is crucial to forge a better future.
To inspire others, we need representation. Our future leaders need to see people they can relate to in leadership roles.
We know that people with different experiences, backgrounds and skills add value to our organisation and we will continue to strive for total diversity in all levels in our organisation; offering leadership development and programs to grow our leadership skills, confidence and ability.
