🌍✨ Fantastisk start på vårt Erasmus+ program i Tyskland! ✨🌍

Gruppen vår har hatt en utrolig utflukt til det vakre Panarbora, hvor vi har fått oppleve naturen på sitt beste. Etterpå har vi hatt en spennende tid i Köln, fylt med workshops om bærekraft og mange andre interessante temaer.

Vi har lært så mye, knyttet nye vennskap og hatt det utrolig gøy sammen. Her er noen høydepunkter fra våre aktiviteter:

Vi har i helgen gjennomført et meget godt Landsmøte på Bergen Hostel Montana.
I tillegg til tradisjonelle landsmøtesaker fikk vi et meget interessant og godt innlegg fra Presidenten i Hostelling International, Stephan Kurman.
Vår organisasjon er i stadig utvikling og vi gleder oss til å fortsette vekst og utvikling. Tusen takk til et fantastisk personale som oppvartet oss på en fantastisk måte.👍😀

- Behandling av saker som inkluderer valg av møteleder(e), konstituering, orientering om årsrapport 2023, regnskap og budsjett for 2023 og 2024, fastsettelse av medlemskontingent, styrehonorar, innkomne forslag, vedtektsendringer, strategiplan 2024–2026, og valg av landsstyre, valgkomité, og revisor.
- Inspirerende innlegg fra styreleder i Hostelling International, Stefan Kuhrmann, og faglig oppdatering fra NHO Reiseliv eller Virke Reiseliv.

🏨 Praktisk informasjon:

Say HI for Peace!
Every year, Hostelling International celebrates the Day of Peace on September 21st 🕊️🕊️🕊️
To commemorate this important date, our super volunteers organized special events to increase awareness of the importance of peace, respect and dialogue among our guests from all over the world 🥰
At Bergen Hostel Montana we had the “All we need is Peace party!” where the volunteers invited guests to write peace messages while listening to peace songs and eating cake prepared by them. In HI Oslo Haraldsheim, the volunteers organized the activity “Travel is the language of Peace”, where guests were challenged to play peace-related games during the evening while eating delicious homemade waffles 🧇🧇🧇
What a great and meaningful day to be a guest in our HI Hostels in Norway ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜🤍

Ahhh summertime 😎

The sun is shining, the weather is sweet, and Hostelling International Norge is spreading the coolest International Volunteers to HI Hostels all around the country to make our guests’ experience even more special.
The Volunteering Norway started over 8 years ago, with Bergen Hostel Montana. The idea of bringing young volunteers from all over the world to organize daily activities for our guests has proved to be an amazing strategy to bring people together, delivery the real hostel experience and fulfill the Hostelling International mission.
In 2022, HI Oslo Haraldsheim, Stasjonen Lillehammer, and Gjøvik Vandrerhjem Hovdetun also decided to join this adventure!
The first stop was Lillehammer, with Nacho (🇪🇸), Matteo and Nicollo (🇮🇹). They have been exploring the city and showing guests the secrets spots and amazing attractions that Lillehammer has to offer. The boys are also the responsible for the “Coffee and Waffles” every afternoon, where not only coffee and waffles are included - but lots of conversations as well!
Second stop was Oslo, with Flavia (🇦🇷) and Meike (🇩🇪). Our super volunteers are living in HI Oslo Haraldsheim, the biggest hostel in Norway, and showing the tourists who come to the capital why Oslo is absolutely worth visiting: from beautiful hikes and swimming spots, to islands, museums and the best nightlife in the country. Off course, Coffee and Cookies with lots of interaction between the guests is included in the package!

July is off to a good start for our Driverforum crew and Hostelling International Norge!
Our Program, activities and sustainability coordinator Amarílis Coelho was invited to be a Hostelling International representative at the first Global Youth Tourism Summit -GYTS together with the HI Quality and Sustainability Senior Executive Emilia Prodea; and we couldn’t be happier with the chance to be represented in an event of such magnitude.
Organized by the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), the event took place in the beautiful city of Sorrento, Italy. The brought together 115 children from 57 different countries in a life-changing experience dedicated to educating, empowering, and including youth in the future of the tourism sector. During 6 days, UN and government officials, ministries of tourism of different countries and admirable professionals of the most diverse areas engaged in the cause - Jayathma Wickramanayake, Didier Drogba, and Salam Hamzeh Ghaith, to name a few - worked with the young participants through breathtaking masterclasses and workshops about important aspects of sustainable tourism, leadership, gastronomy, multiculturalism and peace.
Our representative was able to share and debate some of the initiatives we started at our organization towards a more sustainable and inclusive tourism, like the Volunteering Norway project, in an extremely rich exchange of experiences and ideas with people from all over the continents 🌍
We feel so happy to see the concrete effort is making to create a more responsible tourism, teaching and training the new generation for a sustainable mindset.
As a non-profit youth hostels organization working constantly to foster sustainable travel, the filled our hearts with hope for the future of our industry, and we are so honoured to have had the opportunity to contribute to this important chapter of tourism’s history 💚

Norwegian Constitution Day is the official National Day of Norway, celebrated on the 17th of May. Among Norwegians, the day is referred to simply as “Syttende Mai” (17th of May) or Grunnlovsdagen (The Constitution Day). Norway is celebrating its birthday and turning 208 years old!
