I find the use of the Norwegian word "Typisk" interesting, which translates to "typical" in English. In my experience of Norwegian culture I find the use of the term "typisk norsk" an acceptable expression used to describe a certain pride with in the culture, more positive than a negative meaning, depending on the context.

In these times of racial and cultural awareness, what does it mean to be a typical anything? What if everything was typical? Does the term limit the true understanding of an individual. If a person is proud of one self and culture are they okay with being "TYPISK"?

Humans with dark skin pigmentation have skin naturally rich in melanin (especially eumelanin), and have more melanosomes which provide superior protection against the deleterious effects of ultraviolet radiation. This helps the body to retain its folate reserves and protects against damage to DNA

In October 1967, the co-founder of the Black Panther Party for Self-Defense (BPP), Huey P. Newton was arrested and charged with the murder of an Oakland police officer, John Frey. Newton’s organization rallied around him, initiating a major ‘Free Huey’ campaign that ran through his trial and his two years in prison, and that rescued the BPP from oblivion. The campaign was significant enough for the Oakland Tribune to state that the trial became one of the two biggest news events of the year.1 ‘Free Huey’ also became a rallying cry for radicals across the globe. It propelled Newton into the forefront of the radical movement and transformed the BPP into one of the most visible political organizations of the era.
