It is our pleasure to host a presentation by Laura Phelps Rogers, a sculptor who received her BFA from the University of Colorado Denver. We are grateful to Prof. Yang Wang for connecting the University of Colorado Denver with Kathmandu University, School of Arts, Department of Art and Design for the possibilities of art and research exchange.

Year III is displaying their project, ‘CIRCLES & SQUARES’ tomorrow, May 22, from 1:00 pm onwards. The project amplifies the basic geometric shapes expand into creative forms through the minds of the art students.

We are excited to announce that application for the Drawing and Painting course is now open. This course is designed for passionate students (+2 passed or just given +2 exam) of all ability levels to explore and develop their artistic abilities through drawing and painting techniques.

Year II - Semester II students are exploring human composition in three dimensions. These figurines are inspired by their daily routines or surroundings.

We are privileged to learn from the maestro, Lok Chitrkar, a paubha artist. It is high time to learn our traditional knowledge and skills, which are our identity, culture, and lifestyle.

At the end, dedication and teamwork pay off! What a turnout for this upcycled sculpture project! We are grateful to have Sujan Dangol Sir for the guidance.
Year I, Semester II students

In 3D class, students have produced a fun and collaborative project under the guidance of Sujan Dangol Sir that involves turning cardboard boxes into intriguing forms that are larger than life. It’s inspiring to see how they have transformed simple materials into breathtaking works of art.

We are delighted to invite Parma Sundar Maharjan for CRAFTMatters Vol. 2 on Feb 29, 2024.
Padma Sundar Maharjan is an architect who worked to reconstruct four temples in Kathmandu Durbar Square after the 2015 earthquake. He also teaches at the Himalayan College of Engineering in Patan and is setting up the “Traditional Buildings Inventory” (TBI) in Nepal. Maharjan has contributed to the NHDP’s mapping and drawing of monuments.

We are thrilled to announce that Karan Shrestha, a Nepali contemporary and Mumbai-based artist, will be presenting for ARTMatters, Vol. 6.Karan Shrestha’s works get at the tensions and complexities embodied in the social fabric of Nepal and its interconnection with ecosystems. His practice incorporates drawings, sculpture, photography, films, and texts that speak to the entangled relations of the country’s recent history.

Viola Bordon is a Philadelphia-based artist and educator who specializes in sculpture, drawing, printmaking, and fiber. Her research relates directly to her art practice, which is inextricably linked to craft and landscape. Her work combines material research and environmental variation to explore stability and interrelationships. Join the talk to learn more about her artistic practice.
