Devonport Repair Café is a place where people gather to work on repairing objects of everyday life
Hi everyone. Apologies but we;ve had to cancel the repair cafe tomorrow due to resourcing challenges. Watch out for our next event on 11 March.

The New Zealand-based 'Carbon News' featured our mahi on the Right to Repair in their latest article: "Thousands demand right to repair"
The Right to Repair has been a big focus for Repair Cafe Aotearoa NZ this year with presenting our Make it our Right to Repair petition to Hon David Parker in July, followed by our Right to Repair Submission in September, and expecting the oral presentation to the Environment Select Committee sometime in the future.
We are currently waiting for the Ministry for the Environment to release the summary of public submissions from last December to changes in the waste minimisation act and expect a final decision on what will be included in new waste legislation.
We will keep you posted and continue to campaign for the Right to Repair in Aotearoa NZ next year.
Hi everyone.
Thanks to our fabulous repairers and our lovely customers for another successful event. 29 repairs with a 59% successful repair rate and 13% half / advice given.
Even though we had fewer customers at this event they brought in more things, 2, 3 or 4 items each. So yesterday was actually the busiest event we've had in terms of the number of items even though we had the lowest turn out of all our events.
Over the course of our 3 events we've worked on a total of 77 items with a 65% repair rate and 16% half/advice given. At our next event we should make that 100 items milestone! :-)
The next event will be Saturday 11 February, same time, same place. I'm overseas for Christmas but I imagine December and January would be quiet anyway.
For the next event we will be paying for advertising on facebook leading up to it as the numbers were a bit disappointing even though I was posting leading up to the event.
As always, let us know if you have any feedback.
Thanks again everyone. We hope you all have a lovely Christmas and all the best for 2023.

Hi everyone.
Repairers needed!
Devonport Repair Café is looking for people with different skills for our next Repair Café on Saturday 15 October at 1pm. Come for a while or stay the whole 3 hours.
The Devonport Repair Café is a free repair service for the community. They bring in their broken items and we fix them, or show them how to, for free.
While we are looking for general helpers, we are especially looking for people who are handy with, and can repair:
* clothing / textile * bicycles
* electrical appliances * furniture / toys / wooden objects
* computers * phones
In addition, we are also looking for reception people who welcome visitors and coordinate the jobs for the repairers.
