Good luck Andrew and Sandra!
A glorious day yesterday for the final race of the 2024 Winter Series (thanks to our sponsors CRC Industries NZ, New World Victoria Park, Burnsco Westhaven and Harken/Fosters Chandlery.
Congrats to all winners - now it's time for a well-deserved break before Spring Regatta on 21st September!
Looking forward to the final race of the 2024 Winter Series tomorrow - remember it's an early start!
Also, we haven't had any luck finding a photographer to fill in tomorrow on Taipan. If you have a camera with a good zoom lens and are keen for a day out on our patrol boat, please send us a message!
Looking forward to seeing you at Quiz Night on Friday!
Remember to RSVP for the $30 dinner at https://richmondyc.org.nz/ryc-dinner/
A fleet of 26 braved the day's conditions for Race 8 of the Winter Series - and there were plenty of wet sailors up at the club after! Hope you all had a blast.
(Photos courtesy of committee member Tony who subbed in for Kate behind the camera this week on Taipan!)
Just over two weeks until Quiz Night - get those teams together and start brushing up on that trivia! :D
The fleet enjoyed an Easterly beat out of the harbour today with a decent breeze, and even better, the rain stayed away. We managed to avert an all stations call out with an accidental PLB launch 😂
There was a lot of fun out on the water in Race 5 of the RYC Winter Series, thanks to our sponsors CRC Industries NZ, New World Victoria Park and Burnsco!
A special note of thanks to our friends at Burnsco for donating a spotlight for the Westhaven clubs' use in the tower. Luckily we didn't need it for this race - everyone was back at dock and up at the Club in good time!
Looking forward to seeing you all this Sunday 7th July for Race 5 of the RYC Series!
Two weeks later, on 21st July before Race 6, our friends at RNZYS are running a Car Boot Sale. One sailor's boat junk is another sailor's boat treasure, so swing on down and check it out! https://fb.me/e/20hH45gmF
(Note for sellers, RNZYS will kindly host RYC members' treasures for free, so contact [email protected] and they'll sort you out).

One of the special awards presented every year at Prizegiving is the Maurice Livingstone Cup. It is a relatively new cup in RYC terms, having been presented to the Club in the 1980s by the Livingstone family, following the tragic loss overboard of Maurice during a Spring Regatta.
It is presented to Club members who have "gone the extra mile" flying the RYC burgee - often someone who has clocked up a huge number of miles in a season.
This year it was awarded to Roger and Bill from Taipan, who clock up a huge number of miles as the RYC Patrol Boat: not just on our regular Wednesday and Winter Series, but also on our cruising races such as the Mahurangi Night Race. They show tremendous commitment to the Club and we are truly grateful for them!
Race 4 of the Richmond Yacht Club Winter Series turned into a friendly park up off North Head for a while and an early finish at Bean Rock Buoy to get everyone finished. The sun and the breeze then came out for a gentle beat back up the harbour with the tide.
Thanks to everyone who attended the AGM and Prizegiving on Friday night - and a huge congratulations to the Club Champion and winner of the Noel Cole Trophy for 2023-24, Peppermint Planet!
Trophies polished and ready for the RYC AGM and prizegiving tomorrow. We’re super excited to announce this years club champion! 🎉
Twas a wild and woolly day on the water for Race 3 of the Winter Series, where the weather started off raining and ended up pouring
Some good squalls followed the fleet out of the harbour on a blustery Sunday afternoon.
A beaut day on the water, despite the lack of wind. The questions are: how many fish did Manawa catch and whose spinnaker was vertically challenged? Excuse the Route 66 logo 🤔.
If you haven’t heard about it yet - The Kiwi Cup is a great initiative helping to support sailing clubs, teams & associations across NZ!
We’re stoked to be part of it - make sure to check it out!

This Wednesday saw the final race of the 2023/24 RYC Wednesday Night Series. Despite the light conditions, it was a beautiful evening on the water and a fantastic time at prizegiving afterwards.
Congratulations to all winners, and a huge thank-you to our sponsors of the Wednesday Night Series: CRC, New World Victoria Park and Sailutions, and season prize sponsors Harken/Fosters.
After the Route 66, the Gulf Triangle entrants continued on to the Barrier, before heading back to Auckland on Sunday. Congrats to all competitors and well done in particular to Monotone and Manawa for winning their divisions. We'd also like to thank the two amazing patrol boats and crews for watching out and feeding everyone. Here's a few snaps of the boats finishing at Port Abercrombie plus a few extras from the Route 66.
What a great day to send over 50 boats up to Marsden Cove Marina for the 2024 Route 66 with a freshening South Westerly.
