Get ready for an unforgettable evening as BIG FAN brings you a special CO-LAB night featuring Mazbou Q! 🎤✨
Mazbou Q is an artist, producer, content creator and educator of Igbo-Nigerian descent.
Stemming from his background in classical, heavy metal and West African Highlife, Mazbou Q’s particular brand of Hiphop pushes the boundaries of the genre and captivates those with a deep appreciation for musicality. Mazbou Q takes inspiration from the likes of Fela Kuti, The Roots and Black Star as he confronts his listeners with socio-political commentary and creatively engages them in the complexities of his unique cultural identity.
Also known as ‘The Rap Scientist’, Mazbou Q’s theory-based framework for the analysis of rap flow has gained popularity in both industry and academic circles alike. Covering concepts like polymetricism, micro-timing and displacement, Mazbou Q has guest lectured at Harvard University, Berklee College of Music, Louisiana State University and several other higher learning institutions. As both educator and practitioner of ‘rap science’, Mazbou Q continues to capture the imagination of artists, instrumentalists and music theory enthusiasts alike as he illuminates the musical complexity of Hip hop.

Join us to hear all about the relationship between an artist and social media with three industry professionals who do it best! Paige, Gabe and Jeremiah will be speaking out about their music careers and how social media has benefited them and their careers in the creative industry.
Attendees can expect practical tips and personal stories about navigating social media as musicians in today’s digital age.
Meet Jared Frost, a rising star from the small town of Whangārei whose musical journey began with a Ben 10 journal and a dream. 🌟 At just 9 years old, Jared penned his first song, setting the stage for a path that led him to join an opera and performing arts society by 14, where his deep, rich voice found its spotlight.
Determined to turn passion into profession, Jared made the leap to Auckland in 2023, diving headfirst into the city’s vibrant music scene. Collaborating with fellow musicians, he honed his craft and embraced every opportunity to grow.
Reflecting on this whirlwind year, Jared shares, “It’s been an incredible journey into New Zealand’s music industry. From the creative havens of Big Fan and Parachute Music studios to the mentorship of my producer Ben Malone, every step has shaped my artistry.” His debut single “Modern Day Love” garnered praise, paving the way for his latest release, “Better Alone,” a meaningful narrative that resonates deeply.
At the BIG FAN Fan Camp, Jared found a supportive community of artists who inspired him to embrace vulnerability and create heartfelt music.
We can’t wait to see what steps Jared takes next.
