Check out our Youth Development Coordinator wearing her many hats in this awesome community! 🥳

Ni sa bula vinaka, Tālofa lava!

My name is Taylor Lake, and I am overjoyed to embark on this new chapter as the North Shore Coordinator for Tāmaki Makaurau with Neighbourhood Support. Embracing my Pasifika and Māori heritage I grew up in Te Whanganui-a-Tara, which lay the foundation in my involvement within the youth and community development sector. My journey has taken me across borders, serving as a camp counsellor in America, before making Tāmaki Makaurau my home. Delving into Social Work studies in West Auckland, I actively represented the Henderson Campus on the Student Council.

The challenges posed by Covid prompted my move to the lovely Browns Bay, where I forged connections with remarkable community organisations focused on enhancing youth and community wellbeing in the Bays. Collaborations with entities such as Bays in Action Think Tank Network, the East Coast Bays Library, Auckland North Community and Development - ANCAD, and Heart Of The Bays opened many doors to diverse opportunities. Expanding my voluntary engagements, I undertook contracts exclusively centred on Community and Youth Development. My side mahi involves cultivating Youth Voice in the Bays as your Youth Development Coordinator and collaborating closely with Bays Youth Voice—a group dedicated to amplifying the voices of rangatahi aged between 11-25.

Wearing many hats within this vibrant community, I consistently prioritise downtime with my amazing partner, Whānau, and friends. I'm genuinely passionate about my work and am eagerly anticipating the commencement of this new journey with Neighbourhood Support.

Me mahi tahi tātou mo te oranga o te katoa.
We must work together for the wellbeing of everyone.

Noho ora mai,
Taylor Lake
