🔔 Tomorrow - Contact Improvisation Fundamentals workshop!

⏰Saturday 20 July 2:45-5:45pm / 113 Wellesley St West, Auckland

🧡Independance is excited to co-host the second in a series of Contact Improvisation fundamentals workshops with Matt Gibbons and Rachel Ruckstuhl-Mann at Wellesley Studios.
This class is a starting point for anyone new to Contact, or for practitioners expanding experience.
Contact Improvisation (CI) is a dance form and movement inquiry practice based on physical principals.
The practice plays with the skills of falling, rolling, counterbalance, lifting using minimal effort, how to make ourselves light when being lifted, and responsiveness to dance partners and surroundings.
The 3 hour block will cover fundamental principles of CI. The purpose is to introduce, skills and concepts that practitioners feel comfortable taking into a contact jam or other movement/dance practices.
Please arrive early, bring some water and wear loose clothing that covers the legs and shoulders. We may have a social meeting afterwards if people feel inclined.

💫Workshop cost - $20 (card or bank transfer payments at studio)

Join us Saturday 10th for our first class back this year! 10-11:30am

MB (Muscle & Bone / Mind & Body) is a vigorous, rhythmic, dynamic movement and spatial training system; encouraging participants to experience the limit of their flexibility, endurance and spatial expansion. M&B movement approach is one part of the Body Weather Laboratory (BWL) is a research forum, founded in 1978 by Min Tanaka; a demanding and thorough reexamination of the body and movement is a main theme in all aspects of the training.

Charles Koroneho works in the fields of performance and culture. He created Te Toki Haruru (est 1997) to explore cultural collaboration and the intersection between dance, theatre, visual arts and design.
