Dream Renovation The homeowners had a desire to create their forever home, complete with a culinary-grade statement kitchen, high-end entertaining zones, and bespoke design features.
How gorgeous is this designer collaboration between Smeg NZ and Dolce & Gabbana!
This was one of the many highlights at the most prestigious furniture and design fair in the world – Salone del Mobile.Milano, otherwise known as Milan Design Week
Designer Marianne attended the show - take a look at the rest of her highlights from the kitchen design section of the event, EuroCucina.
We had to make a feature of this stunning aquarium! We’re definitely not experts in fishtank design but we are experts in cabinetry design, which is what our team, led by designer Michelle, crafted to sit beautifully around this aquarium.
If you have a larger renovation planned we are happy to help – we often design laundries, wardrobes and other storage or display spaces for our clients alongside their kitchen and bathroom projects.
Meet our lovely Project Coordinator Kerri! With us since February, Kerri comes with over 30 year’s experience in the interior design field, an industry that she absolutely loves.
You’ll find her in our showroom, supporting our designers with sourcing, quotes and pricing, and continuously refining our processes so we can be as efficient as possible as a team and for our clients.
When she’s not at KBD Kerri loves spending time cooking, trying new restaurants with her partner and friends, and looking after her two ragdoll cats Freddie and Axel.
Flow and accessibility are her top features of a kitchen, which she values in her own home so she can easily entertain guests while doing all the prep work.
Make sure to say hello to Kerri next time you pop into the showroom.
Designer Michelle worked very closely with the Devonport homeowners and their builder to seamlessly bring this exquisite 1920s renovation to life.

The beautiful, inky woodgrain cabinetry in our Ngāpuhi project is a crowd favourite.

We love the soft, warm feel of this North Shore kitchen. The American white oak batten detailing and pared-back cabinetry make a hero out of the stunning quartzite kitchen island top.

Our designers consider all of these before transforming them into a dream kitchen or bathroom that you will love for years to come.
The right lighting can transform your kitchen from a mere cooking area to an illuminated hub of culinary creativity and hospitality.
Our designers will work with you to find the right ambience for your cupboards and cabinets, the best positions for overhead lighting and can even source feature lighting to create a statement when entertaining.
Our Newmarket showroom is set up beautifully to help you envision your new kitchen.
We’re open Tuesday to Saturday 10am – 2pm. Pop in or make an appointment.
Why settle for ordinary when you can tap into the extraordinary? 💧
Kitchen and bathroom tapware isn't just about functionality—it's about expressing your unique style and elevating your home.
Create a spa-like ambience, opt for a vintage look or go sleek, modern or minimalist. The options are endless!
Like what you see? Let our designers work their magic and expertly incorporate the new range from Plumbline NZ into your new kitchen or bathroom.
In response to Australia’s recent ban on engineered stone kitchen worktops, we sat down with Verve Magazine to discuss some excellent, sustainable benchtop alternatives.
From natural stone to porcelain and even recycled glass, discover the perfect fit for your kitchen.

From pulls, handles and cabinet fronts, through to the highly technical world of hinge design and drawer systems - there are so many different approaches to designing kitchen cabinetry.
Our expert designers make life easy, making sure they understand your style and what functionality you need from your kitchen, so there’s no need to overwhelm you with every single option.
Where design meets functionality in perfect harmony. Take another look at this beautiful sunset-hued kitchen project by designer Marianne Gailer.

A Golden Hue Over the Waitemata Sitting atop the cliffs in Northcote Point is a kitchen with a hue to rival the sunset. When functionality is key in a new kitchen, design can seem second-tier. However, after engaging with Kitchens By Design and Elite designer of the NKBA, Marianne Gailer, these homeowners got more than they expect...
Our client spent years renovating their lovely Devonport bungalow and asked us to create a beautiful kitchen to complement the rest of the home.
The original kitchen had very old fittings, poor, unreachable storage, and appliances that required replacement.
We immediately got to work creating a central hub for the family with modern finishes and an outlook to the garden making it an enjoyable kitchen to work in.

Traditional shades of white, cream and beige are a favourite of our clients and have been a staple in kitchens for generations.
Our designers have a plethora of materials at the ready and are experts at making a light, neutral palette anything but boring. You’d be surprised how this palette sings when paired with different material textures, highlights of contrast hardware, and clever use of lighting.
We’ve collated some inspiration from our past projects focusing on splashback features to show just how diverse a white, beige or cream palette can be.
We’re loving the warm, cosy, and comforting feel of Pantone’s Colour of the Year, Peach Fuzz.
Here’s some inspiration from our very own projects on how to bring this ‘gentle peach’ tone into your kitchen or bathroom.
‘Sacred Place’, a large feather artwork by Alexis Neal (Ngāti Awa & Te Ātiawa) became the inspiration for the stone selected for this stunning kitchen in Northcote Point.
Designer Marianne had just seen a new stone, Reverie from Dekton by Cosentino, and felt it perfectly complemented the artwork. Inspired by the striking copper tones in both the stone and the artwork, she built the rest of the kitchen design around it.

Designer Marianne’s latest project is a showcase of beautiful design and functionality using the latest storage solutions and motion technology from Blum New Zealand.
With just a touch, kitchen drawers and doors open seamlessly using the Servo-Drive electrical opening support system, and soft close feature, Blumotion.
Our favourite feature - Marianne added multiple Space Step plinths on the lower cabinetry which double as drawer storage and a handy step for the client to easily reach the upper most cupboards. Magic!

Harking back to the 70s and 80s, the use of curves in interior design has resurged in popularity over the last few years, and it’s no surprise why.
For a home that is more geometric in design, curves and arches can add softness to the space, giving a warm, welcoming atmosphere to your entertaining spaces like kitchens, dining rooms, and living rooms.
Here's a subtle take on the trend using clever panelling to cascade around the curves of the kitchen island which is then echoed in the cushions of the bar stools.
We can’t get enough of the electric copper tones in our recent project at Northcote Point, Auckland.
Designer Marianne echoed the copper flecks in the natural stone benchtop choosing a Zomodo Kitchen Elements kitchen mixer and double sink both in Rio Bronze.
