In 2009, the club's online status was enhanced by giving it a Facebook presence, which started attracting fans from different corners of the world.
History
The United Cricket Club was formed in 2002 by an amalgamation between Massey Park and Ardmore Cricket Clubs and although only a recently formed entity within the Counties Manukau Cricket Association it has a collective history of over 70-odd years. Although those two clubs no longer exist their philosophies still are apparent within United, the way the game is played and the camaraderi
e of the club are the key components of this, the United Cricket Logo, "Thumper" the rabbit [Massey Park] and the "A" [Ardmore] feature the more visible signs of our past history. As an original sporting code member of the Drury Sports Complex the club has continually helped develop the facilities at the ground, with two artificial wickets and a newly completed two-lane practice net appoints the site well to cater for our sport. This in turn with the help of an on-flowing line of youth players from the Drury Junior Cricket Club has allowed United to punch above its weight in all its grades of competition. Three championship titles in as many different grades and the same number of runner-up finishes over its short history so far shows the competitive nature the club has maintained. The on-going goals of further development of player numbers and facilities, the striving for competing at the highest competition levels possible are paramount. This coupled with a culture of good sportsmanship, leadership and enjoyment of interaction with people will steer the club forward in a good manner.
2008 proved to be a watershed year in the club's history when Deepak Bhakoo took the initiative to design a user-friendly website to give the club a new identity and an online presence. The website enabled the maintenance of individual and team statistics for each season and career aggregates from 2008-09 onwards, readily accessible at the click of a button, besides boasting of numerous useful features like links to maps, weather, major sports and news websites, search engines, online games, chat and discussion forums, etc.
