During the school holidays Cambridge Blue Light had the opportunity to send a local youth on a week long voyage sailing around the Hauraki Gulf on board the Steinlager 2 Yacht.

Poppy from Cambridge High School NZ was given this experience and from what she told us ā€œit was a truly amazing experience and definitely one of the best things that I have ever done!ā€

She learned all things sailing, how being part of a team is the way to go on a boat and to appreciate the simple things in life.

We hope to give another youth this opportunity next year.

Thank you to Bridge Club Cambridge for kindly donating to Cambridge Blue Light. Your contribution helped make this experience happen.

Congratulations and well done to everyone that participated in the longest day challenge.

The Blue Edge crew are proud of all the hard work everyone put in during term 3 and it paid off last Thursday.

Everyone showed respect, leadership, resilience and commitment during Blue Edge.

It was a huge achievement and many memories were made.

Thank you to everyone that was involved.

The last week of Blue Edge has arrived and the team played a fun game of one touch to celebrate and recover for our longest day.

The longest day starts tomorrow at 5am and the first stop is climbing the Hakarimatas.

The last stop will be back in Cambridge when they will attempt to pull one of the local fire trucks.

Tomorrow is going to be a exhausting, challenging and fun day!

Also big thanks to all the parents who have been supporting their kids and doing early morning drop offs during term 3.

Best of luck for tomorrow team!

This morning we had our last guest speaker for Blue Edge.

Constable Mike who previously went to Cambridge Middle and High School, spoke to the group.

The group loved trying on the Police kit and was very fascinated about different roles within Police.

Great work Team CMS. Good effort putting a plan together and working as a team to finish each obstacle. Full marks in the fingerprint challenge and they pushed the Police car in 30.5 seconds.

Well done to Rototuna Junior and Senior High Schools for taking out the Douglas Grant Memorial Trophy.

The Blue Edge crew had a chilly start this morning but that didnā€™t stop them.

It was testing day today. Focusing on shuttles, sit ups, push ups and more.
Fergus and Jess kept a record of what they achieved. They will do this test again in a few weeks to compare results.

Hereā€™s a few snaps from this morning in beautiful Cambridge.

See you all again on Thursday.

Blue Edge started last week with a great group of students from Cambridge Middle School and Cambridge High School NZ.

Blue EDGE (Educate Develop Grow Empower) ā€“ is an ā€˜in schoolā€™ programme of activity based experiential learning for young people. Usually in groups of up to 20 for 8-10 weeks with two to three sessions per week. The programme consists of early morning tailored fitness modules, the provision of mentors and role models, communal breakfast, and inspirational guest speakers throughout the programme.

Keep up the hard work team!
