What is a stretch and sweep? - Dr Sara Wickham Many women are offered a 'stretch and sweep' in late pregnancy. But what is this, why and how is it done, does it work and can you say no?

I am a believer in preparing your postpartum in advance - during your pregnancy! You will need others to help you so that you can allow yourself to heal. And without a community support system in place in our society, this means you need to be a project manager for this task - unless you fully delegate it to someone who is ready to support you.
To make your postpartum prep easier, I created this Postpartum Care Guide that you can download totally for free - meaning I won't even ask for your email address in exchange.
If you'll want to thank me - just comment below, ask your question about anything in this guide, or let me know what was the most challenging or important thing for your postpartum healing if you had this experience already :)
You'll find the link for download in the first comment, and please read my blog post where I speak about this in more detail (second comment).
Thank you for reading π

Ready to have a baby today but what will it be? π₯°ππ
Following the sad death of 2 people from whooping cough (pertussis), weβre calling for tamariki and pregnant women to be immunised.
Whooping cough is highly infectious and can be very dangerous for babies and young children.
Vaccination helps protect against this illness, and all babies in New Zealand can be immunised for free as part of their childhood immunisations. Pregnant women can also be vaccinated for free, and this helps protect babies until they are old enough to be vaccinated themselves.
Contact your doctor if you or your child has a cough that ends with a βwhoopβ sound or vomiting or has lasted 2 weeks or more.
If you think you or your child might have whooping cough, talk to your doctor or call Healthline on 0800 611 116. Website: www.healthline.govt.nz.
You can also call the Disability Healthline on 0800 11 12 13 or txt free on 8988.
Call 111 if you or your child has difficulty breathing.
