Delta Community Playgym
Delta Community Playgym is a community-based playgroup session for physically active play for children 5 and under and their caregivers.
It is based out of the Crossway Church gymnasium, at 101 North Avon Road, Richmond, CHCH. $3 per child for the session, under 1s free. Under the current COVID framework vaccine passes will need to be shown for all parents/caregivers accompanying children to the playgym. Facemasks are also recommended.
Kia ora! Sorry for the long delay in posting. I'm on maternity leave and due to have a baby in 4 days!
Update on playgym:
Due to lack of funding and the staff to run it, Delta has decided to close the playgym sessions for the foreseeable future.
However, there is an existing playgroup that meet at Delta on Friday mornings, the Delta International Playgroup. If you're interested in that session, please join the Facebook group - Delta International Playgroup to find out more. Cheers!

Working on getting the Delta Community Playgym back up and running.
We need at least one more volunteer to start up again though. Please message me if you or someone you know is keen to help out regularly at the playgym. Hours would be Thursdays term-time, 9am-12pm. Some light to medium lifting required.
Vaccine pass essential and police check.
Contact me (Shauna) via this page if you're interested.
Thanks
While we wait for the Delta Community Playgym to start back up again here is a link and reminder of the times and dates for the CCC Tumbletimes sessions in Christchurch. Vaccine pass required.
Tumbletimes Tumbletimes is a casual play session designed for babies and preschoolers to explore their physical capabilities at their own pace in a fun, safe and social environment.
Looking for something to do with your children that will encourage them to get active?
Why not try this cool outdoor scavenger hunt?
Good luck if you can find a mushroom outside (unless you come to our house, they grow happily on our lawn!😆)
Since the Delta Community Playgym isn't on for the time being, here are some physically play activities that you can do at home with only a fly swatter.
Some sad news...
The Delta Community Playgym is cancelled until further notice.
In the light of the increasing cases of COVID in our community and the fact that the majority of people who visit Delta are in many ways physically vulnerable (or unable to be vaccinated) - the elderly, adults with disabilities, children under 5 - we are shutting down all our services except foodbank delivery.
We believe this is the best course of action to take to keep us all safe.
But keep following this page as I will be posting weekly ideas and links that can keep you and your tamariki active over this time.
Mā te wa. See you soon and until then, stay safe.
Playgym starts back next Thursday!
But it may look a little different. I'm working on ensuring that the sapce is as safe as possible for you and your tamariki during this recent outbreak and move to red light.
Currently,
Vaccine passes are essential
Face masks for caregivers are essential inside (unless you have an exemption).
Physical distancing of one metre
Regular hand washing
Contact tracing
Let's work together to keep our most vulnerable community members free of COVID!
Thanks and see you next week!
Hi! The Delta Community Playgym is looking for a few volunteers to help on a regular basis at the Thursday playgym sessions. (9am-12pm - term-time only).
It would involve helping setting up and packing down play equipment, some cleaning/vacuuming and possibly supervising/running some play activities (depending on experience).
All our volunteers are police checked and must be double vaccinated. If this sounds like you, or someone you know, please private message to this account.
Thanks!
Shauna
Playgym starts back Thursday 3rd February!
Just a reminder that vaccine passes are essential at this time and face masks for adults are highly recommended!
Playgym will be back on again after the January school holidays from the first week of February!
Until then have a fantastic Christmas and happy new year! Enjoy the holidays with your whanau!
Tomorrow is the last playgym of term 4. The weather is looking pretty gnarly outside but don't let that stop you from coming to playgym for a run around. It's nice and warm in our gymnasium!
Also, a present for every child (under 5) that comes to playgym tomorrow.
If you have older kids who've finished school already, feel free to bring them too. Extra children $1 tomorrow only!
Important announcement:
From tomorrow anyone that comes to the Delta Community Playgym will need to have a vaccine pass.
This is because we are funded by the Ministry of Education and in order to keep running we need to follow their rules.
I am deeply sorry if this means some people cannot attend.
If you do come, please continue to wear a facemask, scan in, hand sanitise or wash hands regularly and stay home if you're sick.
Playgym is all go tomorrow!
Cash only.
Face masks to be worn by adults and please stay home if you're unwell.
Due to a full staff meeting tomorrow playgym will NOT be happening.
My apologies to you all and see you next week!
