The Updated COVID XBB Vaccine is now available at Sumner Pharmacy. The XBB vaccine is more effective against more recent subvariants of COVID in New Zealand.

The vaccine will be available to:
- everyone aged 30 years and over,
- people aged 16-29 who are pregnant, and
- people aged 12-29 at high risk of severe illness from COVID.

Did you know that from 1 July 2023 all standard prescriptions will be free? You will no longer need to pay the $5 co-payment prescription fee to your local pharmacy.

Co-payments on prescriptions from unapproved prescribers (e.g. private specialists and dentists) will remain the same ($15 for an adult and $10 for a junior 14-17y). However, unapproved prescriptions for Community Service Card and High Use Health Card holders are discounted to a $5 co-payment per prescription and are free for those who hold a Prescription Subsidy Card.

Free Prescriptions - Removal of the standard $5 prescription co-payment Effective 1 July 2023 - Sumner Pharmacy Shop From 1 July 2023, all standard prescriptions for New Zealanders will be free. You will no longer need to pay the $5 co-payment to your local pharmacy.

The scheme provides free consultations and funded treatments for minor ailments for the following groups :
• all children under 14 years of age and all Whānau/family members (any age) with the same symptoms

Sumner Pharmacy now offers both the funded and unfunded flu vaccine to all people aged 13 years and over.

The flu vaccine is funded for all people 65+, or 55+ and Māori or Pacific Islander. It is also free if you’re pregnant or have a long-term medical condition like diabetes or a heart condition.

Sumner Pharmacy is looking for a Part-Time Fixed Term Pharmacist (newly qualified or experienced) for 3 days per week. The pharmacy is in the heart of the Sumner beach village.

Expected working hours are 9am to 5:30pm Thursday, Friday, and Saturday 9am to 2pm. However, we would consider 9am to 2pm on Thursday and Friday. The role is a 6-month fixed term contract.

We are looking for a pharmacist who is keen to be a part of our small team, engage with our friendly patients and who is confident working sole charge when required.

2. After receiving your vaccination you will need to stay for at least 15 minutes after your vaccination so we can make sure you are okay
We will record information about your COVID-19 immunisations in our COVID Immunisation Register (CIR). You will be given a card that shows the date you have been vaccinated
