We are delighted to announce the appointment of esteemed Mujeez Sheikh Muhammad Amir, the Chair of the Ulama Board of FIANZ, New Zealand, as the Patron-in-Chief of the Otago Quran Study Club.

Mujeez Sheikh Muhammad Amir specialises in Quranic exegesis and Qira'aat from Islamic University, Madina, he has ijazah in 7 recognised School of Qira'aat, Tareeq Al-Shatibi and 10 recognised School of Qira'aat, Tareeq Al-Jazariah.

His invaluable guidance and support will undoubtedly elevate our mission of promoting Quranic education and fostering a deeper understanding of Islam not just nationally but also internationally!

We are honored to have such a distinguished scholar as our Patron-in-Chief.

Otago Quran Study Club is thrilled to share the success of our 1st Ijazah Award Ceremony, held on June 29th, 2024, at the Porchester Islamic Center, Auckland!

This momentous occasion celebrated the remarkable achievements of our first batch of students who completed the NZ's 1st Online Ijazah Program in Quran Recitation with Tajweed under the esteemed guidance of Sheikh Muhammad Amir, Chairman of the Ulama Board of New Zealand.

Otago Quran Study Club - Annual General Meeting 2024!

Assalamu Alaikum brothers and sisters,

We're happy to share that the Otago Quran Study Club's Annual General Meeting (AGM) was held successfully today! We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the participants who took the time to attend.

The AGM commenced with Quran recitation and welcome note followed by comprehensive report from our President Asrar Elahi, highlighting the club's activities and achievements over the past year. Following this, a detailed financial report was presented for transparency.

The highlight of the AGM was the 2024 elections. The executive committee was voted in with a mixture of some members continuing their roles including the President, General Secretary (interim Treasurer too) and Public Relations Manager as well a new role created! We're excited to welcome the executive team who will lead our club forward.

Additionally, a resolution was passed to create a new position: Online Community Manager & IT Manager. We're thrilled to announce that Brother Nadir Pervez has been elected to fill this role! We believe this new position will significantly enhance our online presence and communication with members. Congratulations to him and all the best for this new role!

We look forward to an exciting year ahead with the new committee at the helm. May Allah (Subhana wata'ala, The most glorified, the most high) grant us continued success in serving the Muslim community in Otago as well as globally.

We are thrilled to announce the successful completion of our 1st Batch-Ijazah Program, which spanned over 39 sessions from Ramadan 2023 to Ramadan 2024!

This program provided a comprehensive journey towards the mastery of Quran recitation with Tajweed (Hafs). We are incredibly proud of all the participants who dedicated their time and effort throughout the year, and we pray that Allah (SWT) accepts this endeavour from them and from us. Ameen
