Warrant of fitness inspections help keep you and other people on the road safe—but to do that inspectors need to be able to carry out the full inspection. If there’s anything obstructing an inspector’s ability to do their job they’ll refuse to do a WoF check on your vehicle.

Job Summary

Skills, Capabilities and Experience

Key Responsibilities

· Diagnosis and rectification of vehicle faults.

· Provision of vehicle preventative maintenance services.

· The fabrication of parts where required or the ordering of parts from preferred suppliers.

· Installation of the replacement parts and reassembly of vehicle to the required standards.

· Management of time in an efficient manner to ensure it is spent working on customer vehicles and with minimal un-chargeable time.

· Ensure activities comply with Acts and Regulations together with adherence to franchise policies, procedures and values.

Technical

· Practical knowledge of motor vehicles and parts for removal and reassembly.

· Strong ability of fault finding and diagnosis.

· Able to identify solutions to remedy faults.

· Parts fabrication and welding skills.

Personal Attributes

· Good communication skills.

· A team player.

· Ability to work autonomously & be self-motivated.

· Creative, resourceful, and meticulous.

Qualifications

· A relevant technical qualification in automotive engineering is desired but not essential

· A minimum of 3 years’ experience in an automotive retail repair environment

· WOF authority would be advantageous but not essential.

WOF Authority and Diagnostic Experience preferred.

So your car has been sitting for 4 weeks, there is a high chance it won’t start.
With the modern car you need to be very careful jump starting, as it can cause damage very easily to the car’s sensitive systems.
You have a few of options:

1. Call us and we’ll start your car, bring it back to work, charge the battery then test the charging system of your car, and the health of the battery.
2. Call us and we’ll jump start the car safely and leave the car to charge the battery itself, risks being the battery never actually fully charges and you have a repeat of the problem.
3. You have a purpose built jump pack, a good quality version of one of these is the best solution for jump starting, still needs to have a process followed to safely do it, but it is much safer for the car. It would still be beneficial to get us to charge and check your battery when time allows.
4. You jump start the car yourself and risk damaging either or both cars.
