The winners of the 2023 New Zealand Book Awards for Children and Young Adults are all available in-store now after their announcement on the 10th of August. Daniel is more than happy to chat about each of these titles (at length!) and the nominees.

Alison, Mandy, Shari and Jacqui have been busy, along with lots of other kind folk, helping to make cute bears for the Golden Centre Mall who will deliver over 500 tiny teddy bears for NICU babies here in Dunedin. Come to the Mall for the family fun days over the weekend and see the bears!

The New Zealand Book Awards for Children and Young Adults shortlist has been announced, and a staff member from the team here was a part of the judging process. Here's what Daniel has to say:
"Since December last year I have been immersed in reading the entries to the 2023 New Zealand Book Awards for Children and Young Adults. Along with seven other judges, we've had to pick out of all these fantastic books which ones show a mastery of their craft, while also being books that encapsulate and represent what children/young adults are reading. For the six out of seven categories I contributed to, it was an incredible task to try to narrow down the shortlist, but one that I am immensely proud of! Come and check them out - the winner isn't announced until the 10th of August."

A High Country Life by Phillipa Cameron is a very popular book at Paperplus Dunedin at the moment. It is a chatty, easy read going through life through the seasons on a South Island Sheep Station. Phillipa also lets us in on her hearty/comfort food recipes and lots of tips and tricks she has picked up along the way in her busy life. It is a fantastic book, a great gift for Mother's Day (hint hint)!
