What’s the problem with bug splats anyway? 🚗🦟🪰

Bug splats can damage clear coat - squished insects are quite acidic. With time (and not all that much time either!), bug splats that aren’t removed will start to eat into your car’s clear coat which can cause permanent damage.

Bug splats can mess with your vision - smeared bug guts are not good for windscreen visibility.

Bug splats are hard to clean - squashed bug bodies are naturally oily and sticky and won’t easily mix with water. And then if they bake on to your windshield or bonnet in the sun and harden up, they can be even harder to get off.

Is it better to wash your vehicle at home or at a car wash?

We often hear this question.

Short answer - it’s much better for the environment to wash at a commercial car wash.

Long answer - at commercial car washes the detergents and cleaning products don’t end up in local waterways. Whereas driveway car washing is a substantial source of water pollution. The soap runoff and dirty water, along with any brake dust, wax, or motor oil that might be mixed in, are rinsed off together and sent straight down the driveway and into the nearest storm drain.

Water use is also much less in a commercial car wash. Car wash engineering and technology uses systems with targeted, high-pressure nozzles and/or waterless cleaning systems combined with precise cleaning product dilutions provide optimal cleaning and rinsing power in hand with minimum water usage.

Dilution levels are an important part of the equation. Too much can leave spots and take additional resources to remove. Too little and the car isn’t clean and the process may need to be repeated.

We are looking for casual staff to join the team at our car wash in Dunedin.

This role will consist of the following:
🚗 Supporting customers on site
🚗 Cleaning vehicles
🚗 Site maintenance and cleaning

Please note that some of this time you will be working unsupervised for this job, so it's vital that you have lots of initiative and can solve problems quickly and efficiently.

We have hours available 9am to 5pm throughout the week dependent upon demand for our services.
The role may be split between multiple candidates to fit different schedule availability so there is some flexibility being offered with this role.

To apply you must be physically fit, motivated and have a minimum of a Restricted driver's license.
