THE BEAR - Another incredible show coming to the Mayfair as part of the Dunedin Fringe Festival next Wednesday, Thursday and Friday 22nd, 23rd and 24th of March.

Experimental Theatre Collective bring to you their version of this classic vaudeville farce The Bear by Anton Chekhov, translated by Stuart Young. This version mixes traditional farce with clowning and aerial circus work.

Dunedin Fringe Festival starts this week and we are lucky enough to have a couple of shows at the Mayfair as part of the line up!

THE FLYING FEMMES is here to bring the joy and allure of traditional circus to the Ōtepoti community. The accomplished all-female cast will take the audience on a journey to explore the history and progression of circus as an artform, paying tribute to its roots but offering a modern twist.

Unfortunately the country has moved into Level 4 Lockdown once more. This means no performances will take place at the Mayfair Theatre, and will not take place during Alert Levels 3 or 4.

We are super excited that the Dunedin Fringe Festival is nearly upon us, and even more excited for TWO!

One night, One pub, TWO actors, 14 characters, 8 Towns. (22-26 March 2021)

Set in a local pub, Jim Cartwright’s timeless comedy TWO features a landlord, landlady, and their colourful regulars over one notable evening - with all 14 characters played by actor couple Blaise and Sarah Barham.

Each character has a story to tell, sometimes humorous, sometimes poignant, always human. They include the bantering, bickering publican and his wife; the womaniser and his long-suffering girlfriend; two elderly pensioners, one who wishes her husband was dead and the other wishing his wife was alive. We also meet the 'other woman', hiding behind her sunglasses, trying to drum up courage to confront her married lover; an eccentric couple who come to the pub to eat crisps; and a lady who reveals her secret lust for 'big men'!

Held in the Mayfair Theatre Function Room on Friday 26th at 7.30pm. Koha on entry, limited seating available!

ROCK TO MOTOWN - Update from the DKCM Team

Due to the recent announcement that New Zealand will return to LEVEL 2 from noon Wednesday 12 August until midnight Friday 14 August 2020 we regretfully advise that Rock to Motown cannot proceed.

However, thanks to the support of our amazing cast, crew, venue and production suppliers we have reschedule our season to Friday 6 & Saturday 7 November 2020.

If you are a ticket holder, you will have received an email from us regarding transferring your tickets to the new dates and/or refund process.

The third and final show based at the Mayfair Theatre as part of Arts Festival Dunedin is Ann-Droid, with shows on Friday 28th, Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th.

This unique little show from Hungary combines theatre with digital technology: interactive projection, a smart LED costume, a robot ball and a drone.

Ann-Droid is the story of Pinocchio set in the 21st century. In this story Pinocchio is a little robot called Ann who is at home in the virtual world, using digital devices as easily as any 21st century child. Her goal however, like Pinocchio, is to become a real child; exploring human relations and trying to connect with her scientist/creator. Adventures abound as she tries to understand what it means to be human.

Ann-Droid is a great way to start the school holidays.
