Marbecks Cafe at 211 Wall Street Mall, Dunedin is looking for a new cook to join the team.

MAIN PURPOSES OF YOUR JOB ARE:

To maintain the production of high quality food, standards of presentation and service standards.
To help develop regular clientele through consistent quality and service.
To contribute to the “team spirit” of the cafe by supporting fellow team members, being committed to the success of the cafe and communicating well

NECESSARY ATTRIBUTES FOR THIS POSITION:

You must have an existing background in commercial food preparation with a minimum of ONE year experience in the industry.

You must have identifiable certification or recommendation ( either formal qualifications or previous job references ) that you have the right experience for this position.

The incumbent will possess good product knowledge, good communication skills, and be able to work in a team environment. You will be involved in team participation and make a positive contribution to the “team spirit” of the cafe.

You will have food preparation skills, the ability to develop your team’s skills, and be able to work efficiently in a busy kitchen, consistently producing meals to excellent standard of both taste and presentation.

You will understand customer needs, possess a good work ethic, and be committed to “Complete Customer Satisfaction”.

PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS

You must:

Follow the basic brief of taste, presentation and price
Prepare and cook orders at fast pace and maintain production of quality food
Help the team to create, update and maintain correct food presentation, recipes and method
Be willing to adapt to new styles, and methods of cooking
Give full support to the Directors vision
Keep a safe, clean, organised and tidy store at all times to “A Grade” standard
Establish strong collaborative working relationship with FOH staff

HOURS : Minimum 35 hours a week

REMUNERATION : $25/ hour to $27/hour

We are looking for :

1/ General Manager
- this is a newly created position to support and manage the FOH, BOH and Retail team
- previous hospitality experience is not essential but prior managerial experience is a must
- this is a 35 hours per week role with flexible work days

2/ Commis Chef (Line Cook / Fast Food Chef )
- this position works closely with our Executive Chef, Greg Piner and will be our young team of sous chef and training chefs
- this is a Tuesday to Saturday position with hours from 8am to 4pm
- previous cheffing experience of at least 6 months is a must

3/ Retail Leader
- this position will lead the retail side of Marbecks, working closely with the BOH and FOH team with menu creations and managing the deli
- you must have a wealth of knowledge and great enthusiasm for all international food cultures
- you must love food, people and culture
- this is a full time position Tuesday to Saturday from 9am to 5pm

Love high paced action and interacting with customers?

You will need zoomy shoes for this role because there will be a decent amount of walking on the floor ( save on gym fees ! )

This position requires you to deliver orders promptly and have a good awareness for customers needs. Having a bubbly and friendly character is a must.

This position is a 4 hours a week on Monday from 10am - 2pm. Please apply ONLY if you can commit to these hours. Immediate start preferably.

We are looking for an experienced, independent and well-motivated barista for our Marbecks Coffee Kiosk in the Meridian Shopping Mall.

We are looking for someone that can work by themselves at the kiosk on Sunday 9.45am - 5.00pm and monday 8.45am - 5.00pm.

This position involves food handling, some food prep and of course making exceptional coffee. You must have a friendly bubbly attitude as you will be interacting with customers in a front facing role.

Love high paced action and interacting with customers?

You will need a bright and cheerful personality to fill this role. This position requires you to listen and take orders accurately and have a good awareness for customers needs.

An order for a quarter shot decaf reverse macchiato with almond milk and a side of warm milk makes you smile instead of crying? Then this is you.

You will also need to be a master at multi-tasking.

Putting up an order of 2 cheese-rolls onto the sandwich press and a pie in the oven and a green smoothie to go, should be dealt with “challenge accepted” and not give you the urge to burn the place down.

The hours for this position are 42.5 hours per week from 8.30 - 5 Monday to Friday.

Sous Chef

Are you a motivated, hardworking, reliable and self driven individual? We are looking for a motivated skilled professional that has the ability to work fast and work independently. You will be working in a kitchen team which emphasizes on good teamwork and spirit. Communication is key and self-discipline.

We have recently re-vamped our menu and looking to build a strong reputation on that. This position focus mainly on preparing in-house meals, prep work and kitchen cleanliness. Training is provided to individuals who are willing to step-up and learn.

The job will have a minimum of 40 hours per week. The work days are Wednesday - Sunday.

We have some special fresh buffalo mozzarella left and half a wheel of the exceptional Truffled Pecorino. Mont D’or, St Agur and Raclette almost sold out.
