Our new smart lock which allows non-members to hire a court for casual tennis matches is awesome! But it’s small fry compared to our broader vision, which we can finally share with you: the merger of the Taieri Tennis Club, Taieri Bowling Club & Taieri Bridge Club into a mega multidisciplinary covered sports complex!! It shall be called the Mosgiel Club Group, or MCG for short. The image shows the initial concept drawing from the architects.

For the sake of historical continuity, each club will maintain its current physical location within the MCG. However, given the height required for tennis lobs, there is a once in a lifetime opportunity for a fourth club to join this project, on the second level above the Bowling Club (the Bridge Club will expand to two levels on the southwest side). Perhaps badminton, ping pong, or needlework?

We need to move onto the next stage of planning ASAP, so interested clubs should reply immediately with expressions of interest. Feel free to share widely, and may the best club win!

Our apologies to the Taieri Senior Cricket Club. Including cricket in a covered building was simply not structurally, nor financially, viable. However we are so grateful to the Dunedin City Council for granting us a five-metre strip of the cricket ground, which is needed for the construction phase of the MCG. Bonus: shorter boundaries: more fours and sixes!! And thank you to Tennis NZ and Tennis Otago for their ongoing support and encouragement.
