This week, we sit down with Jed McCammon, the creative force behind Body of the Year Bakery and co-owner of Pane Ora Dunedin's go-to gluten-free wholesale bakery. ๐ฅ For Jed, baking wasn't always the planโhe once pictured himself as an artist or teacher, starting his journey at art school and later working as a teacher's aide doing sign language interpretation for students. ๐จ ๐จโ๐ซ
After travelling through Europe, Jed returned and found his passion for baking in his flat with a friend who was opening a bagel caravan. That passion evolved, and now we all get to enjoy the delicious baked goods from both of his businesses! ๐ฅฏ๐
Jed shares the inspo behind the Pane Ora brand nameโas his two business partners are Italian, 'Pane' means bread in Italian, and 'Ora' of course, means health in Maori, relating to the ethos of the brand, which is to provide healthy, Gluten-free products that are good for both your taste buds and your body. ๐๐ช

She emphasises the importance of creating easily accessible mental health care where people, especially youth, can find help now, not after three months on a waiting list.

A born creative, with a family that said, "Pick subjects that you love, that will get you out of bed and into the classroom". ๐ She is proof that if you find what you love, you can build a career from that; then there is never a dull day. Trelise is naturally curious, wants to know stuff and craves learning all she can. She speaks about AI, how and why she incorporates it into her daily work life, and the importance of understanding it. ๐ค๐

We chat a bit about AI and ethics in insurance and how they can be utilised in day-to-day work. Her tireless and relentless focus on communicating, and doing the right thing to have families connected was international news. ๐๐
Also an incredible advocate for mental health services (or the lack of) here โ her activism knows no bounds as she continues to push for better. An enthralling story aligns with this, involving Dunedin legend Janet Frame, which you will have to listen to understand a wee slice of regret from Rosann.
The lasting message from Rosann is truly that we donโt know how lucky we are here, our city and our country offers more than most. ๐๏ธโค๏ธ Having been in war zones, impoverished locations, orphanages and other hard to describe situations - she knows what she is talking about!
