It is with great sadness the Ravensbourne Fire Brigade advises the passing of former bridge and life member Alan Morrison. Alan served with the bridge between 1958 and 1993 a total of 35 years service. Our thoughts go out the the family at this sad time.

Last night was a big night on tools for us! Doing a few consolidation tasks for our latest member to return from their recruits course. Thanks Dunedin Fire Brigade NZ for letting us use your tower! 🚨💦
Today’s call was to a motor vehicle crash on SH88 below Burkes drive. Call also attended by Willowbank - nice to see them after our recent joint training 🙂 Thank you for your patience and lowered speed around the site, and shout out to the good sort who put out their personal orange triangle before we were on scene
Up the Wahs 💚💙
Good day for a drive into town!
Today, we were called to attend a private fire alarm activation. In attendance, RAVE281, DUNE216, LOOK237.
Today’s calls are a timely reminder to clean out your smoke alarms when spiders take up residence!
Tonight the brigade refreshed their skills in Hazardous substance identification and control, Entry Control, and search & rescue.
Happy volunteer week!
Happy international firefighters’ day!
The 4th of May is a day celebrated by Fire Fighters’ all over the world.
The idea came about after an event in Australia in 1998, where five fire fighters lost their lives protecting their community from a bush fire. The day is to recognise all of those involved with fire services throughout the world.
The date chosen for International Firefighters’ Day was linked to the feast day of St Florian (the patron saint of all firefighters). St Florian was the first known commander of one firefighting squad in the Roman Empire. He lost his life, as well as those of his colleagues, for protecting the same humane ideas which firefighters all over the world share even today.

With the warning of possible heavy rain, tonight we checked and cleared the drains in the Ravensbourne, Burkes, Saint leonards area.
Be advised Burkes Drive just past Maia is currently closed due to an incident. SH88 still open.
5 of our firefighters completed their Senior Fire Fighter course this week at Dunedin City Station. Along with others from around our region.
Today another minute silence was held around New Zealand by Fire Fighters at 1455hrs. As we farewelled Craig Stevens of Muriwai Volunteer Fire Brigade.
Some of our firefighters helped to form a Guard of honour with our neighbouring stations outside Dunedin station.
The siren also sounded at our station after the silence to signal the last call.
RIP Craig.
Why the siren sounded.
At 2.55pm a minute silence was held by all fire fighters around New Zealand out of respect to Dave Van Zwanenberg. Who passed away helping his community of Muriwai. A Guard of honour was present outside our station. Followed by this our siren sounded and a message of respect was sent out.
RIP Dave
