Our Healthy Active Learning Advisor Katie braved the elements to share the successful Nature Week she's had with some wonderful, active kids. Living an active life doesn't have to be complicated, especially when you have the many opportunities Otago provides to get out into nature. Sport Otago had fun being part of the Teddy Bear Hospital at Carisbrook School on Saturday. This community event was presented by Otago Medical & Dental Students - tamariki could take their teddy bears along to get a full health check-up from health professionals, and it was a fun and interactive way to help reduce the anxiety and fear that children can experience in these settings. We had lots of physical activity offerings for tamariki to engage in and we were blown away by some of the awesome talent on display - ka pai!
Ellen - Healthy Active Learning Advisor for Waitaki, supported the Hampden school Physical Activity Leaders to create a skipathon event promoting physical activity within their school. The PALs were looking for tamariki that displayed their school values of angitūtanga- positive attitudes and rangatiratanga - leadership. Was a great morning had by all 🙂 Sport Waitaki
In our next video on our 'favourite resources', our Play Lead Georgia is all about keeping the kids active
In our second video on 'our favourite resources', CEO James makes it all about the people. He aha te mea nui o te ao? He tangata, he tangata, he tangata.
Today we are starting a new series where our staff will be sharing information about their favorite resource that they think more people should know about. With so much information out there getting to the good stuff can be tricky, so we are giving you a shortcut to the best bits! Feel free to reach out to us if you’d like to know more about anything featured in this series. Our first example comes from our Spaces and Places Lead, Duane.
