Great day out teaching road-safety to kids who are exploring the roads in their local neighbourhood of South Dunedin. Such a great spot for learning with fun networks to explore, and fast learners who take in all the skills.
Our latest school MTB track provides a great wee XC loop for the Under 10s. This track explores a beautiful native-tree section, which links to our exisiting 750m asphalted loop. This 250m MTB loop track has switchbacks and berms for railing, which is perfect for little MTB riders to learn skills 🤙🏽
The track still needs to dry out, so will be closed until we get some more sunshine 🤗
It’s great to see our latest school track being used and enjoyed by so many kids 😎
Pedalling pupils raise $10,000 in a day Dunedin primary school pupils put their pedals to good use and raised a third of the cost of a $30,000 mountainbiking track in just one day....
We have spent the week riding in small groups to explore the South Dunedin roads, using the cycle-paths and side-streets to learn safe riding skills, while doing some fitness and making our way to the Harbour Teeth, JWD lookout, and further down the harbour path to The Cove. The students have loved getting out for longer rides and learning more about cycling in their neighbourhood.
We have been doing epic adventure rides, braving the cold weather and road riding around Dunedin.
Preparing students to safely ride to school is the best 😇
Happy times, riding the mini-e-bike at Bike Glendhu.
Here at BikeSchool we’ve been overseeing the fabrication of a shipping-container for bike-storage for 40x bikes. This involved getting it painted to match their hall, setting the bike-hooks and stands, craning in the container, and then setting it up with bikes for us to coach the kids…looks cool and seems to work well 🎉
We have recently designed this cool learn to ride track at Abbotsford School. It’s got nice winding corners, some rollers, posts for navigating, and other road-markings to practice. This is a great track to take little ones to learn to ride, with grass on either side.
It’s been a big week shaping and overseeing the asphalting of the roller features on our most recent bike track. Getting this one good for the kids to use their bikes, blades, scooters or wheel-chairs on 😇
We’ve started 2024 with a bang, and have been working on the longest school skills-track so far, this one is at Abbotsford School. This will be getting built over the next few weeks, and will also include a MTB gravel-track extension with more technical sections.
We will post photos once the track is completed, and officially opened by the school 😎
It was coach-the-coaches this week! We gratefully hosted two guest-instructors from the North Island, who shared their knowledge both on courts, and out on the road. Our team had a fun time, doing team building and refining our skills so that we can run the best lessons possible 😎
It was EPIC to get out and run a group MTB lesson for 3-hours today, and a great time teaching SKILLS and RIDING in the forest, with super fast learners 😎
Such a FUN day of bike games and riding with Warrington School. In the middle of winter we scored some WARM weather, and had an adventure 🍀
Such a cool concept, with Outram School bringing a BBQ for lunch and enjoying an outing on Mountain Bikes, with the support of our amazing coaches. Love your MTB plans, leading with this cool example 🍖
Such a FUN time coaching with our littlest learners 🤩
We had such a EPIC day riding in coastal Dunedin with Port Chalmers School. We did learning in the school grounds before riding a super loop on their local roads. Check out the Strava Map for our cool loop 😎
How cool is this, we LOVE our Tykes on Bikes and how much the children enjoy it, even with some PUDDLES 💨
