We had a fantastic turnout on Sunday for our first 'Rule the Pool' of Term 3! Campion College showed strong support, forming a team called the Sharks, primarily made up of their students. The other team, the Orcas, was composed of students from the other local schools and led by our club captain and GBHS student, Zyden Worsnop. Zyden played a pivotal role by playing one half for each team. After four intense quarters, the Sharks emerged victorious by just one goal. Thomas Grant from the Sharks was named MVP for his relentless performance, continuing his streak from last week. For the Orcas, MVP honors went to Owen Raines, who gave a stellar performance, playing the full 28 minutes—first three quarters as goalkeeper and the last quarter in defense.

Photos from Tairāwhiti Water Polo's post 22/07/2024

Yesterday afternoon at the Kiwa Pools saw a great game of Water Polo between two selections one of school age players and one of club players mainly adults and school age players.
The school team started strong with a commanding 4-1 lead at halftime, but the club players, a mix of adults and school-age players, staged a strong comeback in the second half to secure a 9-6 win. Tom Grant's MVP performance was instrumental in this victory, and Austin Matthews' crucial saves during the third period helped keep the school team from scoring.

Late goals from Jess Bolwerk in the final quarter further solidified the club players' lead. On the other side, Zyden Worsnop led the school team as captain, with MVP Nikau Rudge showcasing powerful swimming skills that posed challenges for both defenders and attackers throughout the game.

It was a spirited match with standout performances on both sides. It's great preparation for the coming term and remainder of the year that the team is gearing up for more games. We our back in the pool tomorrow (Tuesday) and Thursday evenings at 6pm, next Sunday see's the return if rule the pool involving players from Year 7 to Year 13. New Players always welcome.

Sunday marked our final session of Term 2 for Rule the Pool, and what an incredible journey it has been over the past five Sundays! The progress we've witnessed from our first session to now has been nothing short of amazing.

🌟 A special shoutout to this week's MVPs, Charlotte Gray and Peyton Turnwald! 🌟 Both of them are new to Water Polo but have truly embraced the game with enthusiasm and skill. Charlotte has been phenomenal, creating and exploiting space down the right wing, contributing significantly to her team's attacking strategies. Peyton, on the other hand, has been a defensive rock, tirelessly covering and making crucial plays throughout the afternoon.

Your dedication and improvement have been truly inspiring to witness!

Looking ahead, Rule the Pool will be back in action starting Sunday, July 28th. Let's keep up the momentum and enthusiasm as we continue to learn and grow in this amazing sport!
