These fabrics are tried and true winners. Getting good greys and blacks can be very hit and miss - they go greenish, purple-ish or are just plain old ugly! Not these ones!!

Swizzle Stick Black NZ$22.50 (half metre)
Great backer for modern quilts with lots of linear design elements in white on black background. There are small spots and intersecting lines. Stunning!

Fossil Fern Carbon NZ$20.50 (half metre)
This is a beautiful print. It looks like raindrops of a washed base with fern shapes here and there. Shades of blacks and grey..

Koru Black NZ$21.00 (half metre)
Black and charcoal koru design is subtle but creates an impact. Flowing design work beautifully as a backing and in tops making a great background for brighter blocks.

Jot Dot Black NZ$22.50 (half metre)
A warm black with dots and lines in shades of black. Subtle and lovely.

Textured Arcs Black $22.50 (half metre)
Soft black and grey are shown off in multi-lined arcs. A great textural print.


Warehouse District NZ$24.00 (half metre)
Looks very New York somehow. Black with lighter scrapes in a light bluey grey. Quite edgy and modern.

Oil on Water NZ$26.00 (half metre)
Oil on water black and white. This is a digital print.

Perfume labels NZ$22.50 (half metre)
Perfect for French General ranges, these labels are in French and very elegant. Under-dyed in grey and softest taupe with labels in shades of grey.

Jot Dot Fog NZ$22.50 (half metre)
A delicious pale grey with 8mm circles in white and deeper greys. Smudged lines are not pronounced in a mid grey tone. Lots of movement and not too bold. .

Sisal Grey NZ$22.50 (half metre)
Soft dove grey with irregular cross hatching in a deeper shade. This is a really good grey!!

We are all gearing up for Symposium. I think I am pretty much ready, but for sure, things will have been forgotten and there will be a last minute panic.

The Guild ladies have all worked incredibly hard to get this organised and will also be getting a bit frayed. Be kind, be gentle and be nice!

Getting ready for Symposium! The excitement is mounting as things get ticked off the list.
Puddle has organized several of us to get our electrical stuff tested and tagged (tick), new table skirts made (tick), fairy lights sorted (tick), checked on fabric deliveries (tick), and so on ….

WIDE 51 Mish Mash $40/m What a cheerful mish mash of colours and patterns. Abstract shapes, some look like they are quilted, and line drawings in bright pastels. Lots of blue, yellow and touches of red.
WIDE 47 Teal Frost Bites $59/m Part of the Dear Stella range this print is a deeply rich teal base with angular flakes of brighter teals. The base cloth is beautiful and feels lovely in your hands.

WIDE 28 Serenity Teal $58/m Self patterned in light and ark shades of teal

Fossil fern Red: Deeply rich and vibrant true reds. The mix of lighter and darker shades is nourished with fossil fern shapes.

Fossil Fern Royal: A lush array of shades in royal and sky blues. Soft fern shapes are scattered about.

Glaze Coral: Geometric shapes (about 1cm - ish) are in shades of tangerine, orange coral and peach.

Glaze Earth & Sky: Geometric shapes (about 1cm - ish) are in shades of airforce blue, sky and soft clay/caramel. An interesting print and colourway.

When I was away at Tote ‘n Gloat my stepdaughter minded the house and cats. This is Maisie my Siamese and she is the police cat. Always checking the house, furniture, outside perimeter …. and she keeps her eye on everything. Here she is supervising the car washing to make sure it is all done correctly.

Next trip is at the end of the month for King’s Birthday weekend (Saturday and Sunday 1-2 June for exhibition). I will be at Whangamata along with Puddle & Quiltbooks and Aroha Quilts, and I am sure a few other traders too. Last year this was an outstanding exhibition and really worthwhile coming to view.

Bopping along at Tote 'n Gloat. Made it to Palmerston North this afternoon. Great drive, no speeding tickets (a weakness of mine!) and all good so far. Stand all set up with the help of committee members, and many thanks for that!

Good Morning - on a day of remembrance. Anzac Day 2024. Sad to think of all the lives lost to war and the families that were so deeply affected. it is lovely to see quilts being made to celebrate and remember our soldiers and their families.

Next weekend I will be traveling - driving driving and driving!
