Wondering how often you should have your feet attended to?

If you're undergoing one of our treatment protocols for fungal nails, we recommend coming to our clinic every 8-10 weeks for 12 months to get the best results. However, if you're just looking for general nail care, you can come in as often or as little as you like. If you have thickened fungal nails that are difficult to manage on your own, we suggest coming in every 8-10 weeks. For others who are able to self-care for their feet, you may only need to come in once every 6 months or year. During your initial consult, our clinician will advise you on how often you should attend a general nail appointment.

Don't ignore your nail infections!

While general nail care may seem like a simple solution, over time, untreated infections can progress and become more difficult to treat. In some cases, high-risk groups such as diabetes and immunocompromised clients may even experience serious complications like foot ulcers, osteomyelitis, cellulitis, and gangrene if the infection causes a break in the skin.

Even if you don't fall into these high-risk groups, a progressed infection can still cause painful, thickened nails that are difficult to cut and uncomfortable to walk on or wear shoes with. Don't let it get that far - seek treatment as soon as you notice any signs of nail infection.

Topical treatments are designed to act locally by being applied as a lacquer to affected nails, targeting the fungi in both the nail and nail bed. The lacquer can pe*****te through the nail, but it is not recommended for nails that are more than 50% infected or if the infection has spread to the nail bed.

While successful clearance rates can be expected in up to 30% of patients, its effectiveness is limited in certain cases.
