It took a tow, but we got them all to the highest point in the Rotorua Forest in the end, and what a view!

Not the most exciting topic but one that's important nonetheless. I often see riders coming in to test out a new bike with a helmet that looks like it's from Noahs Arc, a correctly fitted helmet (that's in good condition) plays a pretty important role with a cyclist in the unfortunate incidence of a crash.

HIGH SIDE V LOW SIDE

An Important message to all riders but especially ebikers who find their bikes a ‘bit’ heavy and harder to manage.

We are often dominant (find it easier) on one side to start and stop, but what if there is a lean on the path like in these photos?

Slow falls, failed starts can be the result of starting/stopping on the low side, especially with the heavier ebikes or being in a higher (harder) gear and not able to push off properly to start.

Another issue can be banging yourself between the legs as the bar is closer when on the low side and no one wants to do that!

Practice on the flat starting & stopping on either side, then change up to a slight slope gaining confidence in managing your bike.

Learn what is too much of a slope, so you can do some quick thinking before you need to act. Remember you are the one in charge not the bike!

Great to have the next generation loving biking too!
