The legacy of Hirini Melbourne, as told by his students in Hineraukatauri me Te Ara Pūoro, was launched today at Waikato University.
Hineraukatauri me Te Ara Pūoro follows Hineraukatauri, who enters the human realm unable to speak. Journeying to each of the atua, Hineraukatauri must ask each of them to endow an aspect of music that, together, will give Hineraukatauri a voice.
‘It offers a way for taonga puoro and the pūrakau around our atua māori to be in homes with our whānau and kids.’ says Project Manager Margaret Aull
