Purple kohlrabi is a vegetable belonging to the cabbage family (Brassicaceae), known for its bulbous, globe-like shape and vibrant purple skin. It has a crisp, juicy texture similar to that of a radish or turnip, with a mild, slightly sweet flavor.💪🏽

Kohlrabis are actually a very versatile vegetable, it can be eaten raw in salads, roasted or grilled, stir fried, steamed, and even pickled! Not only this, but they add a bright colour to your plates! 💜

What a Day last Thursday was!

We took some of our awesome customers to Whakatāne to join us in a truffle hunt where Julie and Adrian took us through their entire truffle harvesting process, from the identification to the digging to the cleaning! ☺️

It was so awesome to hear their story and how they got into truffles, we all learnt so much and are so thankful for this unique opportunity 🌿

All of our customers walked away with Truffle in hand, keep an eye out for their menus and you may spot some winter truffle specials👀

We were honored to donate fresh produce to the Pukete Neighbourhood House for their special hāngi.
It was awesome to see a community come together and share food, and we were stoked to play a part in it! 🤗👨‍👩‍👧‍👧

Yesterday we gathered for a shared lunch at the office, embracing new beginnings and reflecting on our journey. Grateful for our team mates and the spirit of togetherness. 🌟🌿🍲

As a produce company we pay homage to Tupuānuku today– this star is related to food grown in the ground! 🧅🥔🍠

We are in peak truffle season, and this means using the truffles in as many ways as possible! 🤩

Truffles are not only good for garnishes, and their price point means we have to stretch their use out.

One way to make the most of your truffles is by storing them for 1-3 days with your rice, polenta, or eggs. The truffle infuses its aroma and flavour and gives you double the magic! This is one great way to use truffles to your advantage. 🍚🍟🍳

Another way to use your truffle smartly is by making truffle butter or aioli from the ends of your truffle- nothing goes to waste around here! 🤤

Making their appearance during winter, they are eaten both raw and cooked. Their leaves are crisp, meaty and versatile.🥬

Eat raw as a salad vegetable, on its own or mixed with other salad greens. Cheese goes beautifully with witloof, and we highly recommend this pairing! 🧀🥬

You can braise whole or sliced, and serve with a sauce. Or stuff and bake, add sliced to stir fries, add to flans, curries or pies- anything!🥗🥧

To set your food apart from the rest, choose red witloof! The flavour and colour will add a unique element to your meals, and are sure to knock the socks off your customers!🤩

We have a great supply of Won bok cabbage at the moment, and it is not to be missed!
Won Bok is also known as Chinese cabbage. Grown in China for over 6000 years, it has a sweet, mild flavour and crunchy texture.
