Tech Tip Tuesday.
There's nothing worse then going for ride and you're 5km from anywhere and PING.... there goes your chain.
Chains can break for many reasons; wear, a stuck stone or twig, bent cassette tooth, lack of maintenance.

An easy fix while you are out and about is a chain breaker and a replacement pin or quick link to rejoin the chain.
(bonus tip- an old broken spoke can be used to hold the chain while you use your chain breaker).

If you need to get a replacement chain or quick link, we just need to know how many gears you have and if you're running SRAM or Shimano gearing.

Meet The Crew Monday.
Well we've worked thru all our instore crew so here's a bit of a twist.
The One, the Only, the EVO Original, The EVO Frankton Showroom.
She's not the biggest, nor the shiniest, but she is home to all our Frankton crew.
With EVO starting in 2007, the Frankton Showroom has been there to see it all.

Normally you have to wait till the weekend for a Garage Sale.
But not today, the great Evo Garage Sale kicks off with specials that just need to be seen.

Tech Tip Tuesday.
A lot of expensive repairs can normally be reduced with a bit of preventative maintenance easily carried out at home.

Are your gears skipping and jumping? There can be several causes for this to happen.
One of the main reasons is that the chain is dry and rusty.
This stops the chain from moving as freely as it should.
The easiest fix for this is to l**e the chain and we have many different types of chain l**e here for all different seasons, riding styles and bikes.
So come on in and we'll run you thru some l**e.

Meet The Crew Mondays.
Dan is one of two Mechanics here in our Frankton store.
Dan first joined us at the end of February as our Frankton Bike Builder but quickly progressed to being one of our main mechanics.
Hailing from Haywards Heath in the UK, Dan met a lovely Kiwi lass and followed her home where we got our hands on him.
Dan is an weapon on a road bike and had a career as a professional road cyclist before joining us.

The countdown is on!!
Saturday the 21st and Sunday the 22nd of September, mark those days in your phone, calendar, hand, fridge, wherever you make notes!

The stock is rolling in, at last count there were 54 boxes of glorious discounted goodness and still more to come.
Keep an eye out because I will be posting pics of some of my favorite pieces of stock.

Tech Tip Tuesday.
If you ride a bike chances are you've had a flat tyre or 3 in your time.
One of the most common questions we get is "I need a tube".
When we hear that there are 3 questions we're going to ask you.
What size is it? How wide is it? And what valve do you have?

What size and how wide are easy, have a look at the side of your tyre and it will be printed on there.
🚴bonus tip- the max pressure is normally there too 🚴
As for the valve, there's 2 options - Schrader or Presta.
Schrader looks the same as what's on your car tyre and Presta is a longer skinnier metal valve.

But no matter what you have, we will have you sorted.

On the last day of the 2024 Olympics, 2 young Kiwi cyclists brought home the goods.
Ellesse Andrews..... what more can be said.
She dominated the Keirin, was solid in the Team Sprint, and showed the world what a Kiwi can do in the Individual Sprint.

And then Ally Wollaston, almost from nowhere, in the last leg points race of the Omnium, lapped the field twice!
That secured her the Bronze and upped New Zealand's total to 20.

Well done and safe travels home.

Meet The Crew Monday.
Jayden is our Senior Mechanic here in the Frankton store.
Having been with us for almost 3 years now, Jayden has worked on an absolutely huge number of customers bikes.
While our Service Center is constantly booked out weeks in advance, Jayden manages to provide a consistently excellent level of workmanship.

Jayden's ride of choice is the Trek Slash 9.8, but it's so custom I can't get a pic so you'll just have to imagine greatness riding awesomeness and you'll be there 🚴🚴

Meet Crew Monday.
Liam is one of the Sales Crew here in the Frankton, Hamilton store.
While mainly based in Frankton you might encounter a wild Liam in our Rototuna or Cambridge stores.
Even on occasion at the Grassroots Velodrome where he rides for NZ on his 2016 Rio Olympics Pista Pro.
When he's not riding in circles, you'll find him out on his Trek Slash 8.

With the 2024 Olympics currently running hot in Paris, I thought for Flash Friday this week we would show you some of the special Giant Bikes they've done for the athletes.
(while these are awesome, they are a one off for the athletes)

Massive congratulations to Hayden Wilde with his Silver Medal in the men's Triathlon.
Completing a 1.5km swim in a green looking river, a 40km bike around the streets of Paris and then a 10km run in only 1hr 43min and 39sec is an legendary effort.
