Rave’s FMS has a new ‘Buy Variance Report’ allows you to compare your estimated quotes vs bills by Category and Sub-category level, for a more granular back costing view.  You’ll find the ‘Buy Variance Report’ via your project’s **Budget** sub-tab - under the **Project Reporting** dropdown.

The report will display Total Category information by default, you can either click on the Expand All button or the dropdown to the left of a Category header, to display the sub-category totals. 

Rave’s handy colour coding of the Variance column displays:

- Green - you have more Bills to receive in
- Black - your estimated Quote vs Bill amounts match
- Red - your Bills have exceeded your estimated Quote amounts

A Totals (summary) line appears at the bottom of the report.

**NOTE: Upcoming updates to this report will allow you to export the report, and add notes - allowing you to record why a variance has occurred.**

Building cost inflation is back to pre-pandemic levels as some material costs falls, supply chains normalise, and builders cut margins to get work.

“We have had resoundingly positive feedback from the public, and from builders who see the proposal as a sensible step in the right direction for increasing the supply of affordable housing,” Mr Penk says.

The government wants to make remote virtual inspections the default for building consents across New Zealand.
Building and Construction Minister Chris Penk announced the plan to seek feedback on the move in the second half of this year, saying a video conferencing approach will reduce travel times and delays to get a building consent.

The Government is proposing to simplify the process for building small, self-contained, detached houses, commonly known as “granny flats,” on properties that already have an existing home.

This proposal aims to increase the supply of affordable homes for New Zealanders. The Ministry of Business, Innovation, and Employment (MBIE) is seeking feedback on options to allow granny flats up to 60 square meters to be built without needing a building or resource consent. These granny flats will need to meet certain building performance and environmental criteria to ensure they are safe, healthy, and durable homes.

VARIATION ACCEPT/DECLINE NOTIFICATIONS VIA THE ESTIMATE SUB-TAB

When a variation proposal is sent, via a project’s Estimates Sub-Tab, an email is sent to both the primary client, and any secondary clients’ email addresses.  

Variation Accept/Decline Notifications - when the Client Accepts/Declines the Variation

Upon acceptance or declination of an Estimate sub-tab’s variation, by either the primary or secondary clients, accept/or decline email notifications are sent to:

- The businesses RAVE Accounts email(s)
- The businesses RAVE Finance email
- The project’s Project Manager’s email
- And the respective primary (and any secondary) clients’ email.
VARIATION ACCEPT/DECLINE NOTIFICATIONS - WHEN THE BUSINESS ACCEPTS/DECLINES A VARIATION ON THE CLIENT’S BEHALF

In cases where the business accepts/declines an Estimate sub-tab variation, on behalf of the client, a pop-up screen will prompt the business user with a selection of recipients to be notified of the acceptance/declination via email - again, the options being:

- The businesses RAVE Accounts email(s)
- The businesses RAVE Finance email
- The project’s Project Manager’s email
- And the respective primary (and any secondary) clients’ email(s).
