Finally our bread slicer has arrived !
All the way from Germany, we will finally be able to slice all our crusty sourdough’s.
We know some of you have been patiently waiting to be able to have your bread sliced again.

We are taking a break.
When you are a small team of four and one decides they need time off, then we all have to have to have time off!
Rose and I both have daughters leaving the district for work and Uni and we need time to say goodbye.
Raymond is starring at the Opera and needs time to recharge.

Currently we are down to one baker and the old fella needs a rest before the final 2 weeks into Xmas!
Don’t worry though we have organised young Ross from .deedbakery to step in for us this Saturday. So you will still be able to get fresh bread and pastries!
We are here at the shop until Friday, if you cant go without ☺️

Today is the 20th Birthday!
We have been a part of the market since 2011, 12 years!!
We started off with a small outdoor table and a smaller sun umbrella a long with a mad German
We took about 30 loaves,dozen odd pastries and bought about half back!
We have come along way since then!
Watched the stall holders come and go, watched their kids grow up and our customers kids grow too!
For us the outshines the bigger markets, with its small but loyal followers who come to do their weekly shop.. almost worth the 11 o’clock Friday night start!
So happy birthday , heres to another 20 !

We wont be this Sunday.
We want to acknowledge our hard working staff appropriately this Labour weekend by giving them a rare Sunday off…. We will however, be on Saturday where we will be working our staff to the bone!!

Today we baked our first challah!
A customer wanted to gift this special loaf to an Israeli friend. It is the start of the Jewish new year tomorrow.
Strolling through the internet there is a thousand different ways to make challah! We settled on a hybrid version of several recipes with what we thought tasted good!
With no practice and straight to the bake…feedback was kind! 😅
Always interesting when researching a new bread, the history from it, the symbolism of the various shapes and of course learning about different cultures.
Definitely give this another try!

We don’t know what Andy from .smokery has been inhaling in his smokehouse but he sure has come up with a great deal for you!!

This Sunday we are doing a colab with .smokery buy a smoked salmon dip and you can get $2 off any loaf of bread from us.
Wether you’re entertaining on Sunday or simply alone on the couch streaming Netflix enjoy it with great fresh food while supporting small local businesses.

We wont be attending this Sunday’s market .

As well as the standard cream donut, jam donut, Nutella donut in our shop we have the donut of the day.
Each day Rose and Brenda get to come up with some creative ideas for this donut… in fact some of the ideas that they come up with, we think we should introduce random drug testing ….

It’s been a couple of months of buying new toy’s.
Belated shout out to for supplying us with this smart little machine. When our old machine broke down, Brian was hand cutting and rolling hundreds of buns every day.
A quick call to and within days we had this little beauty.
Perfect little model for our craft bakery, it certainly takes some sweat out of the day!

We are now stocking .nz soups in our retail shop!
All natural, made from their own produce, they come in 2 sizes.
Great option to take back to the office or home in these cooler days.
Every purchase comes with free bread rolls 🤙.
Return the jar and you get a .50cent refund.

We are taking an early mid winter break.
Our retail shop is closed from Today til Friday, re-open’s next Tuesday.
We are away from both the on Saturday & on Sunday as well.
Never fear good folk of we have organized Ross from Good Deeds Bread to take our spot for Saturday so you wont miss out on yummy snacks and breads!

Pretty happy with everything we produce atm.
Except our baguettes, these simple loaves are the trickiest to master and our baguettes have been 💩 for awhile.
With new ovens arriving very soon, we wanted a baguette worthy of sitting a long side every other bread.
So with the help of our bakery/work/ life mentor we embraced the challenge of upping our baguette game. So far pretty happy with the results. Getting there, further to go.

We have finally been able to track down our retail staff.l…They have nearly run out of annual leave and money!!
This means we will be able to re open our retail shop on the 14th February!
Yah! Yah!
In the meantime we will still be at both markets on the weekends

After a couple of Sundays off we are back this Sunday. We are most likely in a new location. Look out for our gazebo!
