🤎🤎🤎God Equips the Called🤎🤎🤎

It’s been a while since I’ve posted outside of my stories and that’s mainly because as someone who has used their “logical brain” for so long-it’s been a challenge switching to using my “creative brain”.

Being creative or learning how I like to create has come with its challenges just like anything else that’s new would-but I was reminded by a good friend to remember my why of following this call I have to create-and that’s what matters.

Some of my “why’s” include:
-Creating meaningful connections and building and contributing to a community of faith.
-Helping others engage with His story
-Encourage healing through sharing some of my own experiences and testimony.

When I think of the heart behind this-I remember that even though I don’t know how to do things or be a certain way, He will make a way for me. He has. And for you too.

If there’s something new that you feel called to be doing-please be encouraged and know that you will get there! The path has been made for you! Just keep following that call! AND surround yourself with faith builders, encouragers and people who tell you to step out of being realistic and step in to being faith filled!

🤎 Trusty little Truth Talks to start your day 🤎

14/03/2023

Last week was a week of rest for me-although it was still packed with all the things of life, I made sure to sit and rest and just listen.

We’re soon to have our second little girl join our family and although I run around after our toddler, work part time and follow this creative calling, I just need to sit and be still.
Something I’m not completely familiar with but can say I do enjoy.
What that looks like for me-in no particular order…

Feeding my cravings 🤭 Feeding my soul 📖 Feeding into my family 🤎

What is it that you do when you need some time to be still? I’m always keen on hearing what others do to reconnect 🤎

Here’s to my first month of Adorn Art!
I’m so excited for what this next month will bring!

1. Launching my first collection 🙌🏻
2. More intentional time reading, listening and leaning on Him
3. Continuing to build relationships, connections and community both here online and in person 🤎

Keep an eye out on my stories for what’s to come!

Also-unpopular opinion-but I’m glad summers over and I’m looking forward to some cooler, cosier weather! Anyone else thinking the same? 🤷🏽‍♀️

🤎GET TO KNOW ME🤎

Hello and THANK YOU to all of you for jumping on board and following along as I start my creative journey as ADORN ART!

Here’s a few facts about me!
1. I was born in the Waikato, raised in the GC and am now living and raising my own little family in Nelson, NZ.

2. I have a Diploma in Christian Ministries and my Bachelors degree in Nursing and am currently working for a kaupapa Māori primary health provider for the Top of the South Island.

3. My Mumma in love is an amazing local dog breeder ( ) and I am sooo lucky to have been able to have one of her pups as our family pet. STORM is a labradoodle and has such a kind nature to her-so much so that I have been able to use her as a therapy dog in my previous role as an RN in the Nelson Hospital- see pic ✌️

4. I come from a very large family-8 siblings (not sure if my parents had Tele or hobbies back then 🤣). But unfortunately, just as many families do, we experienced a lot of trauma (I’ll only ever speak for myself and my own experiences here) and for myself that meant going through just about every type of abuse you can name. Throughout my creations and teachings and all that I share here-please know that I can only do so because I have been able to and still do find healing and am surrounded by the most beautiful family and friends who support me and love me. Aaand because I do consistently see my Counsellor 🙃

5. I have a very loud stereotypical Māori laugh sometimes-some of yas who know me might say you can hear it in this pic 🤭

That’s all for now-but please know that I will be touching on some experiences that may be triggering and if you are triggered by it at all please feel free to DM so we can talk about getting some support in place for you!

Lastly-share something about you! I want to know who I’m connecting with through this channel 🤎

5 Tips on BEGINNING AGAIN 🤎

5 super simple tips on how to begin something new!

In addition to these tips I would HIGHLY recommend
🤎Having a Mentor
🤎Build your connections
🤎Remember your WHY

Personally- I find there’s no point of making plans if I haven’t prayed first! There’s always this innate need where I have to be in control and it’s only when I submit to His purpose for me that I actually get stuff done! What I’m meant to be anyway!

Drop down any extra tips you find have helped you in your journey! I’d love to hear how you have stepped out and started your journey of BEGINNING AGAIN. Whether it’s starting a new project, business venture or moving to a new place! 🤎

Starting something new, welcoming change or entering a new season can be both exciting and daunting-especially with the pressures of today’s society.
“Am I good enough to do this”? “Do I have the time or resources to run with this”?
“Will anyone actually like what my idea or creation is”?“Am I qualified to even do this”? “Will mine turn out as good as theirs”?

There’s so much white noise amongst what we’re watching, listening to and reading, that we need to learn how to tune it out and switch our mindset and hearts to the one who knows us best and has all the answers to those questions.

And I don’t say this lightly at all-being no stranger to the struggles of PTSD, anxiety and depression-but when you can step out and give your focus to your purpose and calling, to the one who has created that for you, all of that heartbreak and hurt can be used for good and made into something beautiful. If not for yourself-then for someone else.

If there is something new that you’ve been needing to pursue, let this be an encouragement to take action! Ask that friend to coffee, take the plunge and ask them on that date, put the pen to paper and write that book, pick up the camera and learn to photograph, get your budget book out and learn how to finally handle your finances well! Just start.

Take a deep breath. Say a prayer. And then move 🤎

Hello and welcome to my journey 🤎

I’m Desiree and this beautiful man next to me is my husband-Luke.
I am very grateful to have this human-my human, by my side and cheering me on, with everything that I do.

As I mentioned in my first post (which I will say took a very long time to finally step out and get to doing), this space, this business, this whatever it is or turns out to be, will not only be used to share my artistic creations but to also share the truths and teachings I have learnt over the years (and continue to do so) that have helped bring healing throughout my journey.

“To make beautiful”- words that have bought me encouragement to keep growing despite the experiences and trauma that I have lived through. Words that have turned into a promise-Gods promise for my life.

So welcome and THANK YOU for being here! I’m looking forward to sharing with you and getting to know YOU!

Drop me some 🤎🤎🤎 in the comments below and introduce yourself-it’s always nice making a new friend, or even reconnecting with old ones!

If you’re a Nelson local after some BEAUTIFUL photos of yourself or your loved ones, go check out our cousin !

In the mean time-keep an eye out on your feed for a few more posts on who I am
and what I’ve got brewing for ya!

A few words from my heart-for my first post as Adorn Art //

Why Adorn? Adorn means-to make beautiful and of course with art-that's what you're doing. Creating beauty in whichever form you desire, whether that's on canvas, your iPad or paper, with pencil, paint or pixels.

You then take that art and adorn your walls with them, your screens with them. Fill your home with them.

But this space here-is much more than that. For me-it's about cultivating the beauty within. Healing through creation and connection with Him. The pieces and prints, the teachings and truths-I've created for You.

To share my heart through these works-is much more than creating art but will show the inner depths of His love that I'm hoping you will be able to experience for yourself, one day too.
