A whole lot of 'hearing knowledge' in this room. Thanks, team.

It was great to be part of the community panel discussion and Q&A session together with Hearing Nelson last week, in celebration of Hearing Awareness Week.

The SCIP team loved being a part of this fun event, and it was a great way to spread information about services for the d/Deaf and hard of hearing in the area. Thanks for having us Nelson!

If you have any further questions for SCIP, you can reach out to our Belinda van der Monde (Community Relationship Manager) – [email protected]

Did you know that Hearing Nelson also educates our rest home carers on how to communicate effectively with their Hard of Hearing residents? It's really important for them to understand the barriers that their residents' experience every day with hearing loss and also, how to identify the various devices and accessories that they have in their rooms...but most importantly, the importance of wearing their hearing aids every day. These pictures thanks to the wonderful people at Summerset In The Sun, Stoke.

Attention Hearing Aid users with Bluetooth from your cell phone/device.

Here's a kind invitation from the Theatre Royal Nelson to see a show for free and test out there in-house sound system direct to your phone/device and into your hearing aids! The only requirement is if you could kindly give your feedback at the end of the show.

The show for which they would like to invite you is the pantomime Go West. This is a Nelson Repertory Theatre panto for the entire family, and the actors are not amplified, so perfect to give the new mics a try.
A huge thanks to JR and the team at the Theatre Royal Nelson for this great opportunity and for supporting our Hard of Hearing community in Nelson.
The show is from 13-16 December, 7pm with a matinee on the Saturday. Here is more information: https://www.theatreroyalnelson.co.nz/show/go-west/ You get to choose your session date to attend.

The offer is for anyone who would like to try the system, plus a guest. Should you wish to bring more people you can buy additional tickets through box office.

Ideally you will have your own device, but we have a few options for those who do not. It may be a good idea to come to the theatre before the show to double check all is functioning, so this is not going to hold you up on the show day. You can pop into the theatre between 12-4pm on weekdays from 11 December.

This is an app-based Listen Everywhere hearing assistance system that streams the sound system audio to any smartphone over wifi.
https://www.listentech.com/listen-everywhere/ Download the app from your Apple or Google Play store prior to the event.

You can book your 2 free tickets via email at [email protected], or in person when you come to test your device is compatible.
