Position: Chef (Turkish Cuisine)

Place of Employment: Kebab Kitchen (41 Bridge Street, Nelson)

Employment Status: Permanent and full-time (35 hours per week)

Remuneration: $30 per hour

Duties:
• Organise and supervise the kitchen and preparation and cooking of food in the restaurant
• Planning menus including to season and local produce and food trends
• Collaborating with management to estimate food and labour costs and price menu items accordingly
• Preparing, cooking, seasoning, portioning and garnishing food according to menu and customer dietary requirements
• Supervise junior kitchen staff, demonstrate cooking techniques to them and advise on cooking procedures
• Ensuring that the quality of dishes, presentation and hygiene is always maintained, quality of delivered raw food always checked
• Explain and enforce hygiene and safety regulations in kitchen
• Efficient usage of kitchen equipment such as ovens, BBQs, fryers and spit-roast
• Preparing and cooking authentic Turkish dishes
• Preparing authentic Turkish dips and deserts in advance
• Storing food in temperate controlled facilities such as cool room, freezers, and Bain Maries
• Collaborate with management to select and train kitchen staff

Experience Required:
• At least three years’ experience as a chef specialising in Turkish cuisine and exercising most of the above (or similar) duties
