This feedback reminds me, that we draw our own tribe of likeminded people and then we create a community. Although every session in the studio is fun, pilates becomes the silent assassin that wakes our body up and creates true connection. Even cats love pilates! This is a photo of Katy Cat (grumpy Scarlett's sister) who died way too young, but even she saw the benefits of time in the pilates studio. In my last post I talked about the value of focusing on breath and breathing and I wonder if it has spurred you towards really focusing on creating excellent breath for yourself. The second pillar we use here at Pilates Plus to enhance our experience of better health and well-being, is correcting alignment and posture. Often when people come into a session they are embarrassed by the way they stand, or become very conscious of what they are NOT doing well to support their bodies. What I do in all sessions and for all clients is to be 'Jimminy Cricket' and a constant reminder to everyone about how we should be aligning our bosy and what our posture should not only look like, but more inportantly feel like. There is real value in actually understanding the purpose of both excellent alignment and posture and when we appreciate these things, we will be more inclined to adjust ourselves more often during the day to create it. I say often to the beautiful souls that walk across the treshhold of the studio, that while what we do in the studio is important and educational and encouraging and strengthening and supporting - it is what we do in our everyday lives that will make the difference. The classes are just they beginning. They should be regular and they should be a forever commitment to our bodies so.... be like Katy - come and start your journey to better health and well-being. Pilates is such a wonderful way to get back in touch with your body! I know myself after the crazy Christmas season and a few weeks of being out of routine, coming back into the pilates studio feels like the right thing to do. Over the next few days, I'm going to talk a little bit about the pillars that we promote here at Pilates Plus
The first is breathing. While we take this process for granted and we do it between 17 and 35000 times a day, when we focus on our breath we are able to create a real difference inour being. Every session in the studio starts by embracing the relaxed or belly breath that truly encourages us to relax, release tension and connect with our body and brain. During our sessions we focus on using an active breath and we practice this powerful connected breath throughout the session in the hope that this sustaining breath will follow us out into our everyday lives. Active breathing truly establishes the connection between the power of the abdominals and the breath to keep our bodies working everytime we breathe which means we are able to use and work our muscles whenever during the day we think about our breathing! Are you taking time to connect with your body, your breath and your health? We are ending Term 2 here at Pilates Plus with an awesome sense of connection, strength and stretch after a focused 10 week term. With all the illness that has been around we have increased our connection with our breath and we are so excited to be delivering a wonderful environment for exercise. Term Three starts Monday 25 July so how about it? Come and join us and create a new sense of self. What have you got to lose?
Term One 2022 - we are doing it! Hot pilates - and not by design! We are loving the focus on breath and movement that not only heals our bodies but keeps us grounded in this rather unprecedented times. It is always a privilege to work with our clients and watch them gain strength, stability, mobility and ease of both mind and body. There are still spaces in some classes so if you are keen, come and join us. We are local (in Strandon) and would love to have you as part of Pilates Plus.

I am celebrating that we are now in Level 3. Although it doesn't mean a change for the Pilates Plus studio, it does mean we are one step closer to being together. For now we have to breathe on our own. As we come to the end of Term One I am grateful that all has gone well in the world! This term has been full of wonderful and challenging workouts that have allowed us all to connect with our bodies, breath, posture alignment and brains. I have watched our clients challenge themselves to become stronger, more flexible and really aware of their movement. again, the relaxation portion of each class has ensured that everyone leaves the studio better than when they arrived.
