For more than fifty years, the Govett-Brewster has published catalogues of its exhibitions and contemporary art.

The Gallery has started a programme to digitise and make freely available its back catalogue of art publications. Explore the archive on the website, with more titles added weekly.

This is Fiona Clark’s “Go Girl”, published in 2002 by the Govett-Brewster Art Gallery in association with the exhibition of the same name. “Go Girl” tells a story of gender and identity over a 30-year period, in relation to the coming out of the homosexual, le***an and transgender community within mainstream culture in New Zealand. The show also provided rare insight into the birth of performance art and the emergence of photography as a serious art form in New Zealand.
