This is Fiona Clark’s “Go Girl”, published in 2002 by the Govett-Brewster Art Gallery in association with the exhibition of the same name. “Go Girl” tells a story of gender and identity over a 30-year period, in relation to the coming out of the homosexual, le***an and transgender community within mainstream culture in New Zealand. The show also provided rare insight into the birth of performance art and the emergence of photography as a serious art form in New Zealand.
