Across Te Kotahitanga O Te Wairua
ACROSS is an Anglican & Catholic Rangitāne Organisation Social Services providing social work, counselling, support groups, and parenting programs.
Our vision is Te Manawa Ora - Whānau living their best lives.
Mental Health Awareness Week starts today! 🤝🧘🌱❤️
This year’s theme is "Community is what we create together" – a reminder that when we come together, we build stronger, more supportive spaces for everyone. Our connections matter, and sometimes the smallest gesture can make a big difference.
Ideas for how you can help someone today:
Do you know someone who has a lot going on at the moment? Take some kai over for dinner to save them cooking, or offer to take their dog for a walk. 💙
To support a small neighbourhood business or community organisation today, you could:
Spend some time clearing out that forgotten cupboard. Donate toys, books, sports equipment or clothes you are no longer using to a local charity.💚
You could connect with the important people in your life today, by:
Sending them a message, having a kōrero, arranging a catch up in person, or using our postcard resource to get in touch with a loved one you haven’t talked to in a while. 💜
To get to know someone new in your community today, you could:
Introduce yourself to a new kaimahi/employee at mahi. Ask them if there’s anything you can do to help them settle in, and invite them to join you for morning tea or lunch. You could even use our kōrero card set to learn more about each other. 💛
You could express gratitude to those in your community today, by:
Leaving a note on a hoamahi/colleague’s desk to thank them for their help at mahi. You could even throw their favourite treat in, to make their day that little bit better. 🧡

Kia ora e te whānau!
It’s Te Wiki o Te Reo Māori | Māori Language Week, and this year’s theme is Ake Ake Ake - A Forever Language’. It represents the resilience, adaptability and endurance of our language. It also reflects the commitment New Zealanders have to embracing and learning te reo Māori long into the future.
We encourage you to join us in embracing te reo this week by using these kupu (words) and kīwaha (phrases) in your conversations. ❤️
Kia kaha e hoa mā – we can do this, forever and always! 💪
🌼 It's Daffodil Day! 🌼
Today, we come together to show our support for the incredible work the Cancer Society does for those affected by cancer. The daffodil is a symbol of hope, strength, and resilience – just like the many individuals and families who face this battle every day.
By donating to Daffodil Day, you’re helping provide essential services, from research to support for patients and their whānau. Every contribution, big or small, makes a difference in the fight against cancer.

Let’s wear our daffodils proudly and spread hope today! 💛

Fear-Less Parenting programme to “Reduce your child’s anxiety” (Starting 16 May 2024)
6 sessions delivered on ZOOM. Available to parents/caregivers living in Palmerston North, Feilding, Horowhenua and Tararua regions (MidCentral). This programme is FREE.
If your 7 to 12-year-old child is often worried, scared, fearful, nervous and/or anxious, you can sign up for this programme. (We also have a programme for parents of 4 – 6 year olds). The programme supports parents to create a parent plan that works to reduce their child’s anxiety. Sessions run in the afternoon from 12.00 – 2.30pm and in the evening from 7pm – 9.30pm (Parents choose which time works for them).
Parents who have completed the programme, want you to know:
• “It's a game changer - do it! You'll learn lots about your child, yourself, and others around you. Your relationships and life will improve.”
• “It actually gives you the HOW.”
• “It’s a great step by step approach that you can immediately put into action.”
• “It not only helps your child but your whole whanau”.
• “It also helped my own individual life journey”.
• “It is well worth it. The amount of knowledge you absorb that you can easily apply to everyday life is refreshing!”
• “I would absolutely recommend this course because of the tools and strategies that you learn. They are so simple yet as parents, we just don’t naturally gravitate towards them. This is most helpful in creating a calm and positive relationship between yourself and your children.”
• This has been a lifechanging experience not only for myself but for all of my family and it is as close to the missing handbook on parenting as you can get.

Have a safe and lovely long weekend whānau.
The owners of Streetwise Coffee Sanson, Adrienne Foote and her daughter Lizzie, are two amazingly generous people. They organised a charity drive last December and encouraged their customers to donate money, toys, board games, and books to ACROSS.
The generosity of the Sanson Streetwise customers nourished the spirit of Christmas giving.
We want to acknowledge that Adrienne and Lizzie have organised this charity drive for the second year because they saw a need to give back to the community.
If you are passing through Sanson, stop by the Streetwise Coffee Cart and enjoy some of the best coffee.
Our office will be closed tomorrow for Waitangi Day and will reopen the following day on the 7th.
We had an awesome time at Freyberg High School and Community Festival held at Freyberg High School on the 8th of December 2023.
There were sports, games and giveaway hampers. It was fun for the whole whānau!
Word has it that this will become an annual event at the School!
We would like to take the time to thank the community of volunteers, and organisations for donating their time, goods and services.
Across Te Kotahitanga O Te Wairua - for the time out of the office to organise and run this event
Gilmours Central PN - for the food for the hampers
Mission4Men Charitable Trust - for their donation
Rowena Gotty - for her donation
Wider Wood Whanau - for their donation
Sport Manawatū - for the equipment for some of the Games
Palmerston North City Council Community Play Advisor - for organising equipment
Youthline - for sending volunteers to help with the games
Freyberg High School staff - for keeping the young people on track
Māori Wardens - for keeping everyone safe
Manawatu, Taranaki, Whanganui-Ruapehu Police - for their help in the organization of the event and for bringing a very popular Police Dog to be a part of the event.
McAninch Family - donation for face paint and equipment
We would also like to say a huge thank you to Ange O'Connor for her organisational skills that got the job done. Ange is very passionate about the children at Freyberg High School, the pastoral care she provides for these children goes far beyond her job.

St. Peter's College has a Spring Market tomorrow 18 November from 8:30 am - 12 pm.
"It's a time for cleaning up and planting out your garden - and we've got the perfect combo with our Spring market, incorporating a car boot sale, plants, baking and coffee!
We've had plants donated from garden centres as well as lots of seedlings from school supporters, so we're expecting a great range of plants to top up your spring garden.
If you need to have a clear out, don't faff about putting all your stuff on TradeMe. Bring along your car and sell your stuff, or wander through and grab a bargain.
There'll be baking, a sausage sizzle, coffee cart and some great bargains to be had!
If you'd like a stall, please pre-register, so we can let you know if there are any changes to the event (or cancellations because of weather etc). Please be at the location and setting up by 8am at the latest.
Please check the St Peters College PTFA page for any updates or cancellations.
