New Zealand Institute of Electrolysis and Beauty Therapy
One of the aims of the school is to offer the students quality tuition. All the tutors are well experienced and qualified within their own fields.
The Institute aims to offer all the latest trends, techniques and equipment from overseas. Importance is given to the need for developing client handling skills and the different problems facing therapists and electrologists in day to day work. To ensure our students are able to cope with these situations in “real life” away from the school environment, we structure our syllabus to include clinic
We're doing a bit of a downsize and have an amazing Spa capsule for sale. This would make a great point of difference to any salon being able to offer spa treatments using the capsule. It does vichy shower, steam, light, and massage. Any enquiries, give our office a ring or PM us

H = Is it Helpful, or Hurtful
I = Is it Inspiring, or indecent
N = Is it Necessary, is it Nice
K = Is it Kind
And always remember - once its out, it can never be taken back and even when you may think it is private, it can be passed on.

Below is a piece of information that you maybe interested in participating in.
Good afternoon everyone,
NZQA have held several focus groups with learners last year and following the feedback received has developed prototypes of what a ‘Universal’ Record of Achievement could look like.
It will be available:
• on a redesigned interface of the learner’s home page so that learners can view what is relevant to them (e.g. their relevant and/or most up-to-date qualifications, where the learning was achieved, etc.)
• as an official electronic record that learners can print, download or send by email to a third party if they choose.
The prototypes are now available and NZQA would appreciate it if ITENZ members could help by encouraging their learners to have a look at them and take the short survey.
Further information and the survey are available at http://www.nzqa.govt.nz/about-us/consultations-and-reviews/consultation-on-universal-record-of-achievement/
Designing the 'Universal' Record of Achievement » NZQA NZQA is working on delivering an official electronic Record of Achievement which will show a wider range of qualifications achieved. A learner/user-centred approach is informing the design of the new Record.

We didnt get to do the "Shake out" thing yesterday - we had our own emergency with a suspected fire. The "evacuate the building" drills really paid off, and thank you everyone for the smooth operation especially those of you with clients on beds. You retained your clients modesty in a calm and cool fashion.
The "Fire" turned out to be a blown and burnt out resistor in a light in one of the Therapy rooms, and we were commended by the fire service chief that we did everything right. Did look like a bit of overkill with 2 big fire units and so many fireman running around in their full gear - but better safe than sorry. We'll try not to repeat this too often.
Good Morning Ladies - Hope you are all enjoying the break from class and working hard on your Thesis and other stuff!!
Just a heads up reminder about the Beauty Therapy Association Roadshow being held on Monday 12th October 6.00pm at the Square edge. The guest speaker for the evening is Janine Tait Nutritionist. There isnt a cost to students, but if you could let me know this week if you will be attending- that would be awesome. This is a great networking opportunity - especially if you are going to be looking for employment once you have trained.
And now - The Winners- Congratulations girls - you all did really well and it was a pretty close call.
Very exciting day here today - The Girls competing in the Wendy Hill Bridal Photographic Make-up Competition. The preparations.

Graduation day. Congratulations Girls, what a lovely afternoon.
Did you see this on 7 Sharp last night. Here is the precis of that interview and follow up links which you may find very helpful.
NZ Laser Training in the Media
Ruth couldn't believe it when she found an IPL home use kit for sale at a popular department store, so she took this story to the media..
We all know that the market is flooded with IPL machines and even Lasers which can be brought into NZ without any regulations, but did you know that now your clients can walk into a store and purchase themselves a basic IPL machine without even being asked any questions?
What this means for industry: Clients making the choice to try these devices will mean that they might be coming back into clinics with potential burns, blisters or just complaining of no results. The wavelength used is only 475nm, and the maximum fluence (energy) created is only a mere 5 joules, this combined with the fact the treatment window is very small means it would be underpowered and time consuming to use for hair reduction. It does work though.... HOW? - As long as the client is still using the device, the hair shaft will be weakened and the hair will fall out, unfortunately what people wont discover is that underpowered IPL or Laser devices actually contribute to 'LIH' - Light induced hypertrichosis, or stimulated hair growth.
