Jointly run by Health New Zealand and the Ministry of Social Development, the Cadetship is a paid, eight-week, 30-hour-per-week programme. MSD funds cadets’ wages, which are paid at the Public Service Association rates for the respective role.
More than 80 percent of participants are employed with us six months after graduating and others are employed elsewhere.

Pharmacists - how they can help over winter
As winter unfolds remember your neighborhood pharmacy is there to help you.
Feeling a bit under the weather? 🤧 Pop in for a chat (they appreciate a mask on) with your local pharmacist or give them a call. They've got advice and over-the-counter treatments to help get you back on your feet. 💊
Some pharmacies conveniently do immunisations like flu and COVID, so you can make sure you and your whānau are up to date. Visit healthpoint.co.nz to find your closest.
And for those oops-a-daisy moments, your pharmacists can help patch you up. They can assist with minor cuts, scrapes and ouchies.

This afternoon we were proud to hold the official opening of MidCentral’s new Emergency Department Observation Area (EDOA) and Medical Assessment and Planning Unit (MAPU). In attendance, we had MP Tangi Utikere and two local councillors, William Wood and Orphée Mickalad as well as a number of other healthcare partners and community stakeholders. The addition of these new wards has expanded the number of patient beds available, and improved the flow of patient care so people can be seen sooner and be better supported towards their recovery. This is a super exciting step for MidCentral and we invite you to come along on a virtual tour.

#StayWellThisWinter Now that we are in the depths of winter, it's not uncommon to wake up to frosty mornings. If you're out and about for a morning walk/run, please watch your step! And if you're driving, remember to de-ice your car. Set some time aside in the mornings to leave the heat pump on for a little while in your car and set the vent control to demist function until it does its job. It's always a good idea to steer clear of ice before you steer! 🚗 Be safe on the road, whānau!
