My first raw comp in a few years.. not surprisingly, the only thing that deteriorated were the squats.
Pre equipment my last recorded squat was 130, so this decreased by 15kg. I missed the second attempt on depth, so I took 115 again. I was aiming for 120/125 for the third.. but you have to roll with what the day brings.
Bench PB of 7.5kg at 75kg. I had more here, but my build hadn’t been the best for this one so confidence was low.
Deadlifts PB of 5kg, however I should have gotten the 160, but the body was saying no yesterday 🤣.
Comp total 345 - PB 7.5kg. Time to recover, heal, and build up for the next comp.

Rarotonga triathlon 2024
So i had entered as a team, but ended up not having a team, and entered as an individual and couldn’t swim. Neither of us had done sufficient training for this event… but we ended up finishing with a time of 3hrs 37mins. We didn’t come last, we were 18th out of 21 teams, 9th out of 10 vet teams. I hadn’t swam for 5 years… so stoked I could pull 1500mtrs out of my arse in 40mins. Mikes bike time was awesome on his single speed, and his years of not running caught up on him, but he still made it and actually looked better after the run than he did after the bike 😂. we were called Team Broken.
We got photo boomed by a Rarotongian warrior just before the start, it was gold 🤣
It’s been awesome being up here this year, and I’ve even been able to get to our area gym! 300mtrs walk up the road.
Great times with old friends (the regular raro tribe), and meeting new friends! it’s definitely our home away from home 😍🌺

GPC WORLD RECORD!!
A bit excited to receive this in the mail today 🥰 I did put a lot of effort into the numbers this year as I really don’t know how long I can keep going (needing a double hip replacement).
People sometimes discard equipment lifting for many reasons (mostly due to not understanding it), but personally it has brought me more time to do what I have loved doing for the last 5 years. I can’t squat raw now due to my hips.. and getting on the bench some days takes 30mins to get the hips firing properly. (And that’s after stretching and warming up)
My pain killer draw is always full.. but it gets me through the week. I’m getting a new squat suit, which should arrive soon… so I’m hoping I can get another year or two in with 3 lifting.
Don’t give up if you have a similar issue.. there are always some options to try!
Thanks coach for getting me into equipped lifting and getting me strong! That’s also to the cage_barbell team for ensuring I don’t injure myself.
Thanks for putting up with my s**t and training all the time 😜😘

Deadlifts..testing opener
Possibly a bit fatigued after smashing legs, back, and arms at the gym yesterday…but haven’t done deadlifts for a week or two so wanted to get them in.
So you know people post pictures only when the bit in between the start and finish don’t look flash! 🤣🤣
I need to work on locking the upper back more to stop the rounding. I will get there!

Metal Militia Demon Bench
Personal best and national record for AG and weight class for singly ply yesterday 92.5kg.
85kg ✔️90kg✔️92.5kg✔️
Keeping my butt on the bench was the main challenge for the day lol.. I was able to achieve 🤣
More in the tank, but I wanted to end the comp on a high.
Big thanks to mr Dan, and .pull.75 for helping with my shirt. I think we have it nailed now.. arms right up and collar way down, and it worked a treat yesterday. We’ve been playing with that shirt for a while now and I think we have only just nailed it. Skill also matters, so perhaps I’ve also developed more of that over the last 6 months as well.
A big thanks to everyone who helped out yesterday, no event can happen with out all of you. Thanks for organising and making it happen.

What a big day! and a great day had by all 😻💪🎉
After having a comp a month ago and going to Rarotonga in the middle, it meant I had minimal training in between. I really could have done with more back accessories over this time, and upper body work, but we have what we have and we need to use it best we can 🤷‍♀️
Squat 150kg ✔️160kg✔️170kg ✔️- 5kg PB
Bench 85kg ✔️90kg ✖️90kg ✔️
Deadlift 140kg ✔️150kg✔️ 165.5kg✖️
Total 410kg
The plan was to lift 160kg for the deadlift, which was a lift I know I have, and would have given me a 10kg PB on my total, but competition got the better of me…literally 🤣 next time!
Thanks to literally everyone on the day that helped, refs, spotters/loaders, table team, setup and pack down teams, photographers (and Zoe for edits), and Ange for the imagination/planning and event directing!
Bring on the next 6 months of building to get more PBs!! 💪💪💪
