Specialty Coffee Roasters.
Here is Ben running a workshop at HQ.
Over the past two weeks, we have been fortunate to be able to share what makes us unique with several awesome teams from a new partner. Today, we spent a couple of hours dissecting our espresso blends and discussing the coffees we roast.
We started roasting for our own espresso bar in 2007 and our philosophy around coffee has not changed. We are still the same people who began this journey, and we are still hands-on, supporting local businesses to serve better coffee.
Quick change of date to allow everyone to plan ;)
Its been a minute since we ran an event at our roastery.
Friday the 23rd August we will be running an open cupping.
Ben will have a few new interesting coffees on the cupping table as well as a few old favourites.
The doors will be wide open from 10 to 12:30, come by get the mini tour and drink too much coffee.
Cupping will kick off around 10:30, open to everyone from experienced spoon wielder to newbies.
But hey, if you cant make it for the cupping or a smooth flattie is more your style (or both) we will have some tasty origins brewing through the
Admission is a fist bump or the secret handshake.
Please dm if you plan to jump in on the cupping so we know how many spoons to polish.
We are looking to make this a regular thing and open to suggestions.

Seasonal House blend tasting this evening.
Espresso tasting is one daily job that we could never get tired of.
Fluffy coffee mountain thanks to
A huge welcome to ❤️
We are absolutely chuffed to have the opportunity to work with such a great team.
Tucked away in Takapuna, have an expansive courtyard which is a favourite spot for families who need a bit of space for the little ones (and the little fur babies).
Family owned and operated by Joe and Vikki. Joe runs the kitchen like clockwork turning (check out their menu at ) The kids menu is on point ;)
Our Stumpy blend is brewed on their custom Strada so you know the coffee is always just right.
Open seven days a week, and being so close to HQ I am sure we will see you all there soon.
Many of the beautiful cafes working with us also stock a few choice bags of our single origin coffees.
Pic from mates who are well stocked with a range of specialty grade coffees seven days a week.
If you are after a few bags of our finest single origin roasts, stop by or look up a cafe working with us near you and they can sort you out. :)
Jessie and her partner recently opened their first coffee shop in New Market, with an impressive background in hospitality we are absolutely chuffed to be working with them.
Jessie has quickly amassed a following for her coffees amongst the local offices in her part of New Market, currently running two espresso blends alongside a selection of baked goodies.
With bench seating set down a small laneway, is a perfect spot to chill out whenever your in the area.
Choosing the right coffee for a cafe is a decision that should never be taken lightly.
We are borderline obsessive compulsive when it comes to understanding the needs of each cafe we work with.
If you are keen to learn more about finding the perfect solution for your cafe, drop us a line and make a date to drink too much coffee with us.
New coffee alert.
Ethiopia Gedeb.
Fully washed with 36-40 hours of initial fermentation and then dried on raised beds.
With both a clean profile and great sweetness this is definitely one not to miss.
So balanced even Thanos would approve.
We are getting notes of honey and raspberry, but don't just take our word, grab a bag and let us know what you think. 😊
Back at it and brewing some mighty fine coffees
Hope everyone had a cracking New Year rest and all charged up for a brilliant 24. See you all out there!
People who visit our HQ often ask why we have so many grinders on the bench.
We brew all our espresso blends daily, not only because they are so darn delicious, but also to make sure all the coffees we send out are up to our ridiculously high standards. 😎
The coffee machines at HQ are off for a few days while we work on our tans.
Shout out if you need any recommendations to get a good brew over the next couple of weeks, and im sure we can direct you to a cool cafe near you. 😎
Exactly how may different varieties of coffee exist is unknown. There are several well-known varieties that you will find at our roastery, SL28, Catuai, Caturra,
Bourbon and Gesha are the most popular. However, there are many, many more.
Different varieties have different benefits in terms of growing and, of course, taste.
With a little practice, it is possible to pick up the flavor profile of many well-known varieties.
If you would ever like to know a little more and inject a little knowledge into your cafe, give us a shout, we are always happy to coffee geek out and share what we do.
A great amount of care is needed to ensure we get the best from each batch of green coffee.
Here, Matt is doing a few filter roasts on our ir3. He is generqlly following the previous roast curves he has on while also making any small adjustments needed based on last weeks cupping sessions.

We are proud to be a family-owned and New Zealand-owned coffee roastery sticking to our initial mission since 2006. That is, roasting and providing the highest-graded specialty coffee to New Zealand consumers.
Specialty coffee has a unique quality and better taste compared to common coffee beverages. Because we hand-pick and source the coffee beans that's been grown in accurately defined areas, we are able to roast aromatic blends of coffee beans, each with a distinct personality.
Happy Monday all! Don't forget a nice cup of coffee this morning.
How about a silky flat white?
