It's Whakatipu World Champs week folks! This Sunday the 16th the biggest and most prestigious race on the DH calendar is taking place. One race run, win it or bin it. We are expecting huge crowds on the last chute on the track, dont miss out whether you want to take part or come up and watch.

We have a couple of these size small Giant Reign SX 27.5 park edition bikes (no dropper and small block cassette) for sale now, great for groms who may have a bike that is seen better days for smashing park laps. It has been a week since the last race of the summer, it has taken a bit of time to process, but we couldn't be more proud of how the scene has grown since we started doing these events 7 summers ago.

Lots of kind words have been thrown about but we dont expect them, we do this because we love to give back, grow and support the riding community. It is our job as the local bike shop, plus we all love doing the races too.

This year we raised $11'000 that will go to the for a local trail project. Over the last 7 summers we have raised in the region of $50'000 for the club 😀

Money aside the biggest satisfaction we get from doing these events is the binding and building of an epic mtb scene; seeing groms start to build their careers; seeing first time racers getting hooked; new friends being made; families racing together and just seeing the froth and smiles from everyone. It makes all the hard work worth while.

Thanks to everyone who helps along the way, it is a team effort- and the Skyline Crew for the support and building the best tracks, for always taking the time out to help with everything, for being the most awesome medic ever.
