Kaimai Cricket Club
Sunday 24 March will see our final match which will draw to a close the end of the 2023/24 season for Kaimai CC.
Our team lead by David March and showcasing three debutantes (Aidan Lett, Peter Presland and Brett Farquhar) will be looking to end the season in style with victory over good mates the BOP Taniwha.
The hallow ground at Matapihi is due to be basked in sunshine where we will see plenty of pre-game stretching and banter before we are treated to what is expected to be an exciting match-up.
Special thanks to our Match Day sponsors Bel Energy who have been so generous with their support throughout the season.

Now weβre playing Ocean Beach County Cricket Club in the plate final. Currently 31/1 off 7 overs.

First day of the New Zealand Kindred Cup 2024 at Owen Delany Park, Taupo.
Tough couple of games coming up against Clifton Country Cricket Club, Te Awanga in our first match.
Never really got going finishing on 55/9 off 20 overs. Clifton getting to work and knocking it off in 8 overs.
In our second game against Willows Cricket Club we bowled first and restricted them to 163/4 off 20 overs. Their top scorer hitting 91.
We struggled again dealing with bowling and inconsistent bounce finishing 72/6 off 20.
We know where we have to improve so hopefully tomorrow dawns brighter for team Kaimai.

It is with great pride that we announce our squad travelling to Taupo this weekend for New Zealand's most prestigious cricket event the Kindred Cup. This year 12 teams from all parts of New Zealand will face off over two days playing T20 games at Taupo's Owen Delaney Park. Kaimai Cricket Club were invited to join this year's expanded event after event organisers recognised the success of the club in its inaugural season.
Kaimai Cricket Club field a strong side with players from Tauranga, Rotorua, Hamilton and Auckland making up the squad. David March and Campbell Wilson share the captaincy over the two days. Local cricket legend and Kaimai life member Don Warner will join the squad in a support role and umpire throughout the tournament.
We wish the boys all the best for the event, bring home the silverware lads!

Kaimai CC reunited at Matapihi for a highly-anticipated fixture against TBC Old Boys, rescheduled after last year's rainout. Captain David March chose to bat on a promising pitch, but poorly executed shots led to Kaimai struggling at 44/4 in the 9th over. Tony Wellington (57) and Matt Earl (47) revived the innings with a 75-run partnership, followed by contributions from Steve Robinson (23). However, a stunning catch by Rob Ferrari ended the innings at 178 in the 33rd over.
TBC Old Boys, fueled by Charles Williams' explosive 48*, dominated their chase, securing an 8-wicket victory in the 23rd over. Only Matt Earl (1 wicket for 20 runs) and Mitch Sweetman (1 wicket for 23 runs) managed to take wickets.
Key Performances:
Kaimai CC 178 all out (32.3/35 overs)
Wellington: 57
Earl: 47
Robinson: 23
TBC Old Boys 181/2 (23/35 overs)
Williams: 48*
Gartshore: 38*
Gerraghty: 26
Ferrari: 24*
Tony Wellington (Kaimai) and Rob Ferrari (TBC) received Man of the Match nominations for outstanding performances.
Celebrating the first game after a year's wait, Kaimai CC hopes this fixture becomes an annual tradition. Gratitude to Neil Craig for the continued support and providing the picturesque Matapihi ground.

Kaimai CC returns to Matapihi this weekend after a washout two weeks ago against Movember. Next up it's TBC old boys, a local derby not to be missed with former Tauranga Boys battlers taking the field again. Last year's inaugural game was a wash out, it's anyone's call which way this could go!
A warm welcome to Blair Parlane who makes his debut for Kaimai and Mitchell Sweetman who will finally makes it on the park after a couple of false starts.
Game starts at 11am, come along to the MCG and support both teams this should be an epic battle!

With weather getting in the way of the pre-Christmas schedule, the boys from Kaimai Cricket Club gathered last Saturday at their home ground at Matapihi for the first game of 2024 and a packed summer schedule. The opposition for the day were Haberdashers Cricket Club who have their spiritual home in Marton.
Skipper Tony Wellington won the toss and elected to bowl first. Leighton Fisher opened up the bowling alongside debutant Rob Barbour and each were rewarded with the wicket apiece to leave Haberdashers 2 down with only 22 on the board. Haberdashers fought back well with a solid 50 run partnership before Rick Gerrish bagged the first of what would turn out to be four wickets. At 122/7 in the 24th over, the home team looked to be in the ascendancy but an outright assault from a reversed batting order took Haberdashers through to 212/8 after 30 overs.
The Kaimai openers of Scott Adams and Josh Evemy started well in reply putting on a solid 46 run opening partnership. Rory Brown and Leighton Fisher managed to hit a few l***y blows but with the run rate climbing all the time, the run chase faltered with the Kaimai batters failing to execute their attacking shots to see them bowled out for 145 in the 28th over.
Kaimai CC would like to thank Haberdashers for including us on their Northern tour schedule and look forward to catching up at the end of February at the Nation Kindred Cricket Tournament in Taupo.
Haberdashers 212/8 (30/30)
Fisher 5-1-10-1
Gerrish 5-0-29-4
Kaimai CC 145 (27/30)
Evemy 29
Adams 28

Kaimai v North Shore match report - 26 November 2023.
Kaimai CC travelled North to Devonport on Sunday taking on North Shore CC who had comfortably beaten us at the back end of last season in the Bay of Plenty.
With a number of regular players unavailable for a variety of reasons Kaimai CC had eight debutants in its ranks giving the side a Barbarians feel as introductions were made prior to the game commencing on Devonport Domain.
North Shore won the toss electing to bat and bat they did with the home side racing through to 61 without loss in 10 overs. A double change of bowling saw the Hamilton pair of Shoston and Basu bowl superbly in partnership and by the time they had completed their spells the North Shore top order was back in the pavilion taking 3 wickets each and leaving the home side in trouble at 106/6. Gerrish and Rai kept the pressure on the lower order batsmen picking up a couple of cheap wickets each, wrapping up the North Shore innings for 142 in the 25th over.
Kaimai began their run chase with a little over 4 runs per over required from the allotted 35 overs. March and Parsons opened the batting with Parsons showing attacking intent hitting the first ball of the innings to the boundary. March was first to go, trapped in front for a duck bringing former Auckland and NZ gloveman Reece Young to the crease. Both Young and Parsons quickly got into their stride and put on a batting masterclass with runs being scored all around the ground. Young brought up his 50 with yet another sweetly struck boundary only to see his stumps rattled with the very next ball. Recent arrival from South Africa, Hansel, joined Parsons at the crease with 30 runs still required. Parsons brought up his own 50 and went on the finish 61* with Hansel chancing his arm hitting a number of boundaries. Both batsmen finished unbeaten seeing Kaimai record a comprehensive victory by 8 wickets.
Kaimai CC would like to extend their thanks to Brett and all of the North Shore team for their hospitality throughout the day. Leighton Parsons and Ben Wall were nominated Players of the Day by the opposition captains. We look forward to meeting again in the not-too-distant future!
Only 3 Kaimai members make the trek to Auckland for the first time with the remainder made up from a mixture of Waikato and Auckland based players.
Seddon Cricket Club and New Zealand O40s hopeful Leighton Parsons makes his debut along with former Black Cap Reece Young and Suburbs New Lynn legend Chris Fawkner. Jeff Orsbourn also makes his debut after many years with the Grafton Beige Club out of Auckland.
Nick Shoston plays his second game after debuting against Waipuna Valley last season, Nick has been a stalwart of Hamilton cricket for many years. Gurjot Rai, Gogol Basu, Ed Harman and Steven Hansel also make there debuts for the club.
Kaimai Cricket Club take a strong lineup into the game after suffering a heavy defeat to North Shore late last season.
