On the first Tuesday of each month at 7pm we run a live coaching call for our members in the World of Holistic Wellness. Each time a new member joins the mentorship, we help them set a 12 month goal. The monthly call is about breaking that big goal down into manageable chunks and setting achievable targets for the upcoming month.
Firstly, itâs all about STRATEGY.
You may have a goal, but do you know how youâre going to get there? Do you know the exact steps you need to take? The types of targets to set? The puzzle pieces that need to be in place? What to do if things donât go to plan? How to handle curveballs?
Secondly, itâs about ACCOUNTABILITY.
Unless you are a highly self-disciplined, motivated, committed human being who will ACTUALLY keep those promises you make to yourself, then accountability is everything. Itâs often the difference between failure and success. We donât tell our members what they want to hear. We tell them what they need to hear so they get RESULTS.
Thirdly, itâs about SUPPORT.
If you are on the dreaded hamster wheel of feeling motivated - seeing initial success - things get hard - oops I fell off the rails - oooh look a fancy new diet - wash - rinse - repeat then this is a clear sign you need support. A gentle guiding hand to steer you away from throwing everything down the drain just because you slipped up. Some honest words about whatâs really behind that self-sabotage. DO THE WORK NOW, OR DO IT LATER â WHAT GETS ME ON MY YOGA MAT WHEN I DONâT WANT TO
I seem to be talking about this subject a lot with my clients lately. It usually comes up when someone is resistant to making necessary changes, such as reducing alcohol, or going to bed earlier, or cutting out the 3pm chocolate bar.
A lesson I have taken on board in my own life is that I have to do the work when it comes to my health â there is no way around it. And I can choose to do that work now, or I can choose to do it later. Either way, I have to do it.
I choose now.
What this means on a practical level is that I am prepared to make sacrifices and do certain things every day, even when I donât want to do them.
I havenât touched alcohol in two years, I eat clean food, walk every day and get on my yoga mat on most days of the week, even when I canât be bothered and would rather do something else.
Why do I do this?
Because I know that if I donât, my health is going to suffer as I get older, and I will potentially be faced with the hard work of managing (and undoing) a ton of problems, such as being unfit, immobile, riddled with aches and pains, the list goes on (fatty liver, autoimmune disease, high cholesterol, etc).
I choose to be disciplined now, so I can experience freedom later. Want your freedom now? Then be prepared for having to be disciplined later.
